Not better. Semirigid (malleable) is a poor second choice.

In order to bend a malleable for stowage it must be less rigid than a fully inflated inflatable.

Is it possible that there is something amiss with your current implant? It sounds like it.

I think the key phrase is "doesn't stay as rigid as I would like". Perhaps the poster isn't a native English speaker? But if he is. That leads me to think that his implant loses some fluid to make it softer. In other words, his pump check valve is defective.
That could lead into his next complaint about size. If the pump won't maintain pressure then it is pretty difficult to get any stretching to happen.
Just an idea.

I agree that something must be wrong with your pump. If you are able to pump up to get a hard shaft it can potentially soften just a little bit, but it should stay very hard.

Regarding your disappointment with size, are you what you were going into implant surgery or smaller? If smaller, have you been aggressively cycling to regain lost size? If you have cycled, as was mentioned above, it may be difficult to stretch your penis if it doesn’t stay fully inflated as that is required to put pressure on the skin and tissues to get the stretch. If you are the size you were going into surgery you may not get more, no matter how much you cycle your implant.

The semirigid implant is not a great alternative. From what I understand it is most beneficial
for men who have problems with their hands and would not be able to use the pump on the better devices. It’s faults are it has to be a softer material to be malleable, but it is firm enough that it puts constant pressure on the inside of the glans and in some cases has eroded the tissues and had to be removed.

Have you expressed all of your concerns to your doctor? If not that is a good starting point.
I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

Actually I do have another question when releasing fluid I can feel fluid draining by just putting pressure on implant without using the release button is that normal?

No, not normal. You should not have fluid flow from implant to reservoir (deflation) without first pressing the deflate button.

With some valves, you need to keep the button depressed to continue deflation. With other valves, you can just press the button one time (and release it) and deflation will continue. But in no circumstance should you have deflation without having pressed the deflate button. The usual process is to 1) squeeze the bulb to open the valve for inflation, 2) squeeze the bulb repeatedly to inflate the tubes in your penis to the desired level and 3) after sex, press the deflate button to drain the tubes into the reservoir.

You appear to have either A) a sticky valve that does not fully close when it should or B) a faulty valve which does not close when it should. The first condition is often resolved by cycling the valve several times. The second condition is resolved by surgery to remove and replace the faulty valve. This surgery is MUCH simpler than removing and replacing the implant. It enters only the scrotum.

Talk to the product manufacturer's Patient Liaison about unsticking a sticky valve. If that does not resolve the problem, ask about getting surgery.

Good luck.
