I am scheduled for 1/2/2020, what is a realistic amount of time to take off from work? I left it at 2.5 weeks.
Thanks and Merry Xmas
Mike

I would think this will depend on the type of job you have with a physically demanding job requiring more time. I have a desk job but with significant walking due to the size of the facility. I plan to take 7 - 9 days off and hope that will be enough. Like you, I am eager to hear the responses of members who have already had the surgery. Merry Christmas and good luck.

I have a desk job but my doc says 1 week.
My surgery is on 26th. I'll probably go to office on 6th. 25-1 is a holiday and will take 2nd and 3rd Jan as holidays.
But then I'm a wuss.

I took 2 weeks off but I probably could have done my job halfway decent after one week off. I have a networking job and sit all day. Even though I was back at work at the beginning of week 3, I still sat on my ankles a lot to keep the pressure off my scrotum for a few more days.

I am also up for surgery tomorrow. Good luck to you my young brother. I am a construction superintendent and will be trying to get to my jobsite on Monday just to see what happened this week and look around. Also was going to see if I could walk to the end of my street and watch some of the Rose Parade on Jan 1 with my granddaughter. Then back home where I can do most of my work on computer.
I have to run out in the morning and get some loose sweatpants. Question for some of the veterans here. I have a few pairs of well worn jeans that are pretty big will I be able to wear them for an hour or so in the mornings I visit the jobsite? If I wear sweatpants will the new package be pretty obvious? I don't care if it is really I will just say I am swollen from the "hernia surgery". How about driving is that a challenge? I have my first followup visit with doc on Jan 2 he said I should be fine to drive by then.

I guess I was lucky to get Dr Kuang in Alb NM who has done a lot of implants. I was back at work 3 days after the procedure. At the time I was working at Home Depot. I was 75 then.

I got extremely lucky...great surgeon and I'm a quick healer. Monday surgery, and I was back working Wednesday. I have a job where I'm out in a suit meeting customers or I'm at my home office desk. So I worked from home for the first full week. But I was also deflated (my doc's protocol was no inflation for first month post-op).

I've got the same kind of job, and 1 week worked for me.

I'm on week one right now. I would definitely take 2.5 if you can. Or work remotely. I've busy visiting family over then Christmas holiday, 5 days after getting implanted. Walking and such isn't bad, but then I would get swelling and soreness.
