It feels like the muscles used to shit are weakened/affected after the surgery. I am eating normal food now. It just feels like I can't apply the same force to shit.

My enema bulb was my friend for about the first week. Not uncommon but the longer it stays, the harder it will be to eliminate it so do whatever you need. Depending on the pain meds you've got and whether you're taking them, you may be suffering from OIC (Opioid Induced Constipation), as well.

Guess I’ll find out
I’m getting a bag of vancomycin and a bag of gentamycin before we start. So I doubt it becomes an issue for a while. Both those antibiotics are notorious for killing off my stomach flora and fauna.
What pain drugs are you taking? The good stuff does constipate me.

Get a bidet with the water stimulating jet. Would never go back to a standard toilet again.

Did your surgeon not put you on a stool softener? It is common practice, pain meds slow down your bowels, and lack of activity also leads to constipation.
