I had ED for many years and had already begun to lose some length when I had a Prostatectomy due to Prostate Cancer. That really shortened my penis and it got smaller when I developed Peyronies. By the time my surgeon did the stretch test to show me approximately what I would end up with it as just over 4" as opposed to the 6.5" I had most of my life. When I explained to him that I could massage my shaft and get 5" without getting hard, he still said the stretch test number was likely what I would end up with.
After my implant surgery when the surgeon checked on my he told me he had been able to scrape away the Peyronies plaque and that loosened up my penis so he was able to use a larger implant than he had expected to. The first time I took off all the gauze around my dick I measured and it was just over 4". I knew the device was not fully inflated so I hoped with full inflation and some time cycling it I would gain more.
After about a year I was back to my lifelong 6.5" length. I know what my surgeon did with the scraping made a difference and I was diligent about cycling. I believe surgeons are just very hesitant to overpromise so the stretch test size seems to be the standard answer when we all ask what we can expect.
