Implants after ED from 5ar inhibitors (finasteride, saw palmetto, accutane, proscar, etc)

I am curious how the experiences getting implanted went from people with some form of Post Finasteride Syndome (PFS).

PFS symptoms include ED, but also low/zero libido, cold/numb penis, etc.

Was the implant a good decision for you guys?

I don't know if I had/have PFS. I took (if I remember correctly) finasteride for a very short time to control post-voiding dribble (urine) and it killed by erections (such as they were), even taking oral E.D. medications.

So much for my history.

My advice is that no matter what the cause of E.D. if it is untreatable by any other means (give them time to work) an implant is a viable solution.

I don't think "the experiences getting implanted" differ much whether the E.D. is from PFS or any other cause. The most important thing to remember is that an implant is unique among E.D. solutions in that there is no reversing. All the others have (at least) some opportunity to go back if a better treatment (or even an actual cure) comes along. Implant eliminates all other (even future) options. It is tantamount to knee replacement to install an artificial knee. Or amputating a damaged foot to get a prosthetic one. No going back, even if the ability to grow a new, natural fully functional knee or foot were made possible tomorrow.

Hi,
I'm wondering about the finasteride connection also. I'm a year and a half after implanting and I took finasteride for a short time, for too many nightly trips to the bathroom, about a year after implant. I don't have orgasms any more but that was a problem some before.
I know that is one of the side affects of finasteride.
Green light laser has reduced the bathroom breaks. But orgasms would be appreciated.

Interesting. I’ve always wondered what may have been the root cause of my early ED (20’s). Perhaps the Accutane was related?

Lot of interesting theories as to why so many guys have low libido, low testosterone, especially if you compared things to our great grandfathers. Our sperm counts are way down compared to them, estrogen levels up, testosterone down, smaller testicles. I read a lot of interesting stuff about plastics in the environment, many of them are hormone disruptors, especially ones like BPA's which are in a lot of plastics we use. It's all in the groundwater now, drinking water, foods we eat. The animals we consume have incorporated them into their bodies that we consume. They think it could factor in a lot also with the obesity epidemic.

I was on propecia for many years and believe it was the cause of my ED. The other side effect was numb penis. The implant solved issue one and worsened issue two.

This is an important thread because PFS sufferer seem to be in the position of having both libido and feeling/ quality of erection issues. Has having the implant been worth the further decreases sensitivity ? Or has this outweighed the plus of having a functional penis ?

This is crazy to read and explains a lot because I'd always speculate about what the cause of my ED was. I was on Accutane for 2 years (beginning in 2017) and even dabbled in finasteride for a few months. This sucks.

I never knew those medications would cause permanent ED issues.

The side effects were updated for roacutane to include this problem only in 2017, although for finasteride the side effect profile has been known for quite a long time. I also took roacutane for a long time even after showing these symptoms as they simply weren’t on my radar. Sites such as propeciahelp.com are a good resource but I would be wary about what I read on there because there is a lot of doom and gloom that isn’t nessecarily beneficial.

given that it helped 1 and made 2 worse... overall how do you feel about your decision to get an implant?
