Infection

I was implanted for Titan 15 days ago after eight days start to have drainage from the incision and now I have swelling I go back to doctor tomorrow but not sure if I have an infection or not but has anybody else had these problems

He has an MD appt today. sounds like an infection.

I’ve been admitted to hospital been on anabiotic’s for four days and Schedule to remove implant on Thursday replace it with a Malable or possibly another three piece depending on how things look

Wow! Glad you were caught in time.
My infection was gambled on by the Dr. and they lost.

Can antibiotics sometimes ward off the infection so that a mandatory revision won’t happen?

Once it's there, you really have no choice. bacteria can hide in cracks/crevices on the devices that antibiotics won't be able to get to and you'd never be able to eradicate it. This is always a big gamble, and it seems especially with Titan products since they aren't covalently bonded with antibiotics like the AMS products, they are only dipped in antibiotic solution prior to implantation which just doesn't stick around long enough like the antibiotic on the AMS bonded devices. I've been seeing enough of these cases of Titan infections lately that I can't see ever wanting to get one, if I had to have a revision.
