Deflating

I resisted making this post for fear that I would sound like a complete idiot but here goes anyway.
I had a Titan implant 22 done on May 11 of this year end and have been cycling fairly religiously. Inflating doesn’t seem to be a problem but deflating is giving me some trouble. I seem to be fumbling around when I deflate and I’m not sure I am deflating properly. Eventually, I do inflate but I’m concerned that I may be damaging my implant by not doing it correctly.
I know that I must depress the two horizontal bars on the side of the bulb to initiate deflation. So, should these bars be collapsing during deflation? When I do feel for these bars they tend to easily slip away and it’s difficult for me to keep my finger and thumb on those two horizontal bars. The key question here is should these bars collapse during deflation?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
