Implant on 8/25, a little nervous!
Long time reader, first time posting. Scheduled for an implant on 8/25 and just a little nervous though this forum has done much to answer my concerns. My story is much the same as what I've read on here. 56 years old. In shape. Started using Viagra literally when it first came out & it worked great till about 3 years ago when it started becoming less & less effective, even at mega doses. Had my T checked & sure enough, very low. Pellets brought my levels up along with transforming my life. Lost weight, gained significant muscle, and my mental outlook did a 180. Viagra also starting working again. I started having dizzy spells which I found out were TIAs. Basal artery stenosis was my diagnosis. Plavex & Crestor for the stenosis & Bystolic w/ Norvasc for hypertension. These meds pretty much killed whatever natural function I had left. Kept having TIAs. Finally, on my own I determined it was the Viagra causing them. Levitra & Cialis, same thing. Stopped the PDE5s & have been TIA free for 2 years now. My neurologist says he's seen this before. Started using trimix at 20mg. Worked well at first. Now I'm up to 55mg with a stronger mixture along with an Xialla cock ring & my results are painful, but fairly consistent. The blood thinners do result in significant bruising. My wife & I are very sexually active & my current treatment regime really puts a damper on our fun. The idea of a bionic penis is extremely appealing! Now we are set to go in just a couple of days & I could use some encouragement. I have no doubt that the end results are gonna be very much worth the pain. I've been using a VED daily for almost a year to maintain size (right at 8" erect) & I've actually seen an increase in girth, especially on the shaft near the base. My penis is much rounder than it was before. I'm prepared to exchange a little size for on-demand stiffness! Any last minute suggestions? Tips? Thanks in advance and say a prayer for my rebuilt dick, lol.

Re: Implant on 8/25, a little nervous!
The nervousness is common I'm sure. I am having my surgery on the first and I can relate to the nerves. You journey sounds similar to mine and many others here. I'm doing trimix right now but hate the shots and I still lose my erection if there's much resistance.
The size issue is a concern for all men, no matter his size now. None of us want to give up anything we have but like you said your 8"s are not doing you much good if it's not hard.
Good luck with your surgery and your recovery. Please keep the group posted on your progress.

I had my implant back in January of 2020. Seven months later a new man! I was scared to death two days before my surgery. The surgery for me was nothing! No pain of any kind. I would be happy to chat with you by phone or feel free to ask any questions about anything. We all respond to this surgery differently. The worst thing I had was a head ache for three days from the anesthetic. They used something new I had not taken before and a three day headache resulted. Don’t worry about the surgery. For me it was not worth worrying about! We all respond differently to the surgery. I had a drain for two days but no pain. I went home day after surgery to heal for six weeks. Went back to my surgeon six weeks later and cleared for sex. Here we are! My wife and I are very sexually active and in our late sixties. Looking back I wish I had done this long before I did. Hindsight I would skip the trimix and go straight to implant. Very happy with my decision. Hope to hear from you. Best of luck to you!

Re: Implant on 8/25, a little nervous!
Dr Lacy is a Urologist in a large practice in Knoxville, TN. I live an hour east of Knoxville. I use to go to Dr Lacy for several years and he was my urologist. I transferred to a urologist in my home town about a year and half ago. I knew Dr. Lacy and his partners did the implants. I did a consult with him in person and confirmed again he did the implants. I had three pages of typed written questions. He took the time to answer every question. My wife was with me and she has been a nurse for 40 yrs. We both felt very comfortable with Dr. Lacy. I knew I would trust him because I had seen him as a patient for four years prior to my implant. He is a great urologist. He made me feel so comfortable because he knew this was my dick we are talking about. My wife and I talked it over after my consult and I called his nurse and schedule my surgery date. There was no pretesting of any kind. My surgery went great. No pain no complications and no surprises. I would trust him with my life. His worked turned out to be like I thought it would. I ask him how many infections he had with his implants he said none and explained in fine detail why. I was sold! I have some physical problems that prohibit me from traveling hours to have this surgery. Staying several nights away from home after the surgery was something I could not very easily do. If I were in perfect health and had plenty of money I would have gone to one of the top three implant surgeons. I did plenty of research and made the best decision I could with the resources I had. Thank God it all worked out for me. Medicare paid all but $1408 and my secondary insurance paid the rest. I did not have to pay a penny out of my pocket. It’s been seven months and my AMS 700 bionic cock works perfectly. Gain all my length and girth back with daily pumping. Happy with my Bionic cock and my decision.

Notaes, that is a great post. Many guys ask how to find a great surgeon. You clearly showed how you found a good one. Look nearest first, grill them with your questions. If you are not happy. Cast your net a little farther out, repeat.
Also, as for Medicare. Good info. I'm not on it yet but doesn't it generally pay at 80%? That would explain your $1408. That would be either due from you or a co-insurance if it was covered. Your post has lots of info for those that are on the fence.

Re: Implant on 8/25, a little nervous!
I was nervous going in too, and I didn't know squat about what to ask the doc. At 5 months after my implant I found FT, and knew I should have found here first. So I'm saying you are way ahead of the game, don't hesitate to ask doc about any concerns, especially loss of size. Good luck!

Yes I did all my research prior to my surgery. I did not leave one stone uncovered. I knew exactly what I was going into! I even called the major medical center after my insurance paid to verify that there was a zero balance owed. It all worked out perfectly exactly as I had planned. Nothing ever goes 100% as planned but thank God this surgery did. I even verified my secondary insurance would pick up any balance Medicare didn’t pay. My wife and I are retired and on fixed incomes so I had to know exactly who and what was paying what. I am elated it worked by the letter for me. All $70,000 paid by my insurance!

Crazy how much they charge when you have gold plated insurance. I remember my insurance was billed about $70k also. Don't remember what was actually paid though.notaes wrote:GT1956

Re: Implant on 8/25, a little nervous!
Reading the post there seems to be different approaches when it comes to post-surgery cycling. Correct me if I'm wrong but some begin right away while others wait? I also read that some surgeons leave the device inflated at 70% immediately?
