New implant questions !

Hello Guys,

I've been suffering from ED for more than 15 years due to venous leakage. After consultations and assessment. I decided to have an implant with Dr Chris love in Melbourne, Australia after couple of weeks, however I am little anxious about it.

I am going to have Coloplast Titan, has anyone had same experience with Dr Love and how was the results and sexual satisfaction !

Are there any concerns or things I should pay attention for before and after surgery ?

Does the incision site or implant size matters ?

Hopefully you reassure my anxiety

Thanks in advance

I must say that you should read a bunch on this site and find a surgeon that you trust. When you have made up your mind try to relax because you will be on your way to happy sex soon! :D :D

Thank you so much for your support but my anxiety is that its one way surgery, there is no way back :D .. your original tissue will be destructed

My thoughts before, during and after were if it's already broken you can't break it much more than it is already

Megamind. What do you have to go back to? Most men that have opted for an implant either don't have erections or what little success they have is rapidly going away. Basically there isn't anything to go back to. So going back doesn't play a factor in their decision.

Right. there is "no way back". So, the conventional wisdom is to have an implant only when there is nothing "back" to go back to. When the choice is between two choices

A) to take the chance on an implant (which does have a fairly high success rate, but the drawbacks of a high financial cost and a high convenience cost and dependence on a mechanical device)

B) What little erectile function you have now.

If you can have satisfactory sexual relations now (for example, your partner can orgasm by mouth, hands or toys/sexual aids and is satisfied by and with you in the manner) and you can orgasm by mouth, hands or sexual aids and are satisfied by her in that manner, what is there to gain.

On the other hand if there is a no satisfaction with the current state of affairs (or so little that the risk is worth the gain) and coital sex WILL BE satisfactory. Then there is gain to be had.

My choice was clear. If anyone's choice is NOT ABSOLUTELY CLEAR, then do more thinking before going under the knife in an irreversible step.

On the other hand, life is too short to miss out on good sex and too long to endure its absence, so once your choice is clear, do not hesitate. Do not fear. Find a surgeon in whom you have absolute confidence and do it.

Your reasoning is right on, Lost Sheep! However, the "high financial cost" you mention is obviously dependent on the patient's insurance coverage. For example, I was very fortunate to have Medicare as my primary and Anthem Blue Cross as my secondary insurance because my total out-of-pocket cost for the whole shebang (pun intended), including an overnight stay in the surgical center, was $0! Also, I'm not sure what is meant by a "high convenience cost". Could you please elaborate on this phrase? Thanks!

My own thought on the context of LS's "convenience cost" statement is that I think he means it's more convenient to have an erection that follows arousal levels automatically than to have one that is manually on-demand.

@Lost Sheep, if this isn't what you meant, please elaborate.

Well I had mine done 10 months ago. Like you I did lots of research. Asked lots of questions. I even interviewed 3 different Drs. I was very certain that I was going to do this, Git the date set. As the date approached I became very very anxious. The big day came Che Jed into the hospital. Dr came by and said. Well guy you ready. I told him O was but was really hoping he was on his A game. He laughed,

Spent 1 night in hospital then went home. No pain just some swelling. I did use Ice.

All I can say after being limp for 11 years I wish I had done this years ago. I am a man again.

Best of luck. It is just human to be nervous.
