Funny Question

OK, I've been lurking for a while--and I have appreciated the information provided on the board. As a result, I am scheduled to join the bionic brotherhood on February 12th. Dr Amin Herati of Johns Hopkins will be doing the surgery. I am very excited--but have one weird question that popped into my head this morning as I was relieving myself. The question: Will I be able to feel the cylinders and when I relieve myself? I don't know why I have the question, but I wondered. Thoughts?

Your flaccid with an implant will feel very different from the flaccid you're used to. It will be much stiffer. When holding it to relieve yourself, it will feel larger, heavier and less pliable. Your shake at the end will change due to the stiffness. You won't feel the cylinders per se, but you will definitely feel the effect they have on your penis. None of this is a bad thing. Just different.

When you read Mike123's experience, keep in mind that he has a Titan from Coloplast The AMS implants are made of a more pliable material, thus my flaccid is much closer to my pre-implant feel. In fact, if I am 10%-15% inflated, almost indistinguishable. If I have deflated to a lower degree than that, I can feel the implant tubes as flat, pliable tubes that are even smaller than my flaccid natural tunica albuginea. Strange folds are apparent if I feel for them. There are plastic tips in my glans. I can feel them. The tubes that transfer fluid among the reservoir, pump and implant tubes can be felt, too, depending on how they were routed through your anatomy.

LS is right. Titans are stiffer than AMS. I am also not able to deflate as fully as most. When LS and most others deflate, they are able (if they choose) to squeeze nearly the entire length of the inflatable part of their implant to remove the liquid. If the implant is deflated to that degree, there will be more folds making it more noticeable. For that reason, many will leave it partially inflated.
In my case, I've got a 22cm implant. Of that, 5cm is non-inflatable hard plastic. Of the remaining 17cm, only 9cm is outside my body with the remaining 8cm inside. That means that when deflating, I can only squeeze half of the inflatable part of the implant to get the liquid out. That tends to leave more liquid in mine than in most others. The result is that I don't get a lot of the dog ear folds that come with more deflated cylinders making the feel of the cylinders is less noticeable, but also me stiffer than a lot of others.

Additionally, I hear that the tips of the Titans are softer than the tips of AMS but I can't speak from experience for the Titans.
I do know I once equated the feeling of the AMS CX cylinder tips in the tip of my penis to feeling like two short library pencils had been stuffed inside my dick because of the hard plastic, slightly pointy tips at the end of the cylinders.
They don't cause any problems but I had to be careful when learning how to deflate, so I didn't squeeze too close to the glans to squeeze the saline out, otherwise squeezing the plastic tips does hurt a little.

agree with Mike123. My flaccid is larger now and harder, but as he said, it's not necessarily a bad thing.
My implant always has some residual saline in it, even when I squeeze most of it out when deflating. I get a slow "flowback" of saline.
It's not an erection, just a semi, I guess. Urination is not affected in any way.

Thanks all for the information. I have grown tired of dealing with the TRIMIX injection which certainly kills spontaniety. I am very excited since I have been dealing with ED for so many years. I will let you all know how it goes.

I agree with LS.
I experienced both models: Titan and AMS.
Definitely, AMS cylinders are way softer and more pliable when compared to Titan. Flaccid look and feel is very close to natural penis feel.

Other factors that might be pertinent
The Titan pump is smaller than the AMS, thus less obvious in the scrotum.
I am surprised no one has jumped in to point out:
The AMS devices, being made of a more-flexible material will never surpass the Coloplast devices in stiffness/rigidity at the same inflation pressure. Not that any of the available devices, AMS (CX, LGX or CXR) or Coloplast (Titan or Titan Narrow Base) are inadequate for any type of sexual activity. They are all PLENTY adequate.
The AMS IPPs come with tubing, pump and reservoir pre- assembled. The Colopast has the surgeon use connectors for the tubing between the components. Thus, the surgeon has the theoretical opportunity to exercise more control over routing the tubing. I have never heard anyone comment on whether or not this is significant at all.

LS,
When you mentioned tubing, my Titan tubing was very prominent and tenting scrotal skin in few places. Was also palpable at penis base on both sides, right and left.
My AMS tubings are not visible nor easily palpable in the scrotum.
Surgeon did good job placing tubing a beet deeper and covered it in multiple layers.
