How long after surgery until you could drive car, walk 1/2 mile, bend over or squat? Some guys activate day 3 or 4 others not until week 6. I work a farm. Can stay off the tractor and quad runner but corps and animals still need work.

I was pretty much doing most every thing within a couple of days. I was sent home with a catheter in. They took it out the next bay. Drove myself to the dr for that. There is/was a lot of swelling in the balls so you have to watch out for that, sitting can be somewhat hard at times. Good underwear and loose fitting pants help. Just take your time and your body will tell you when to relax. The longer you can keep icing the better. I think after about 3 or 4 days it was just uncomfortable but no big deal. Was walking and driving. Nothing rough, off road etc.

It depends on how fast you heal and maybe even the surgical approach. I had a 10lb. weight lifting restriction for a while. I had penoscrotal and a hole was made to put the reservoir up next to my bladder. So kind of like hernia for recovery. This would be a good question to ask your doctor. Also pain meds would restrict driving. But I only took mine for the plane ride home so I had no restriction for that.

Good luck.

Understand the weight restrictions. I've had two back surgeries and a hernia. I won't be lift the 50lb feed bag or hay bales. I'm more interested in back to "normal" functions vs pain/swelling timeline.

My Doc says give 2 weeks horizontal and almost zero swelling/pain. Also wants 6 weeks before activation. Others all over the range. 3 days to 6 weeks.

Strange to me...

My experience was this: pretty much down for the count for about 1 week. Could have gone to work at my office job after 1 week - but glad I didn't have to since I was still pretty sore.

I was feeling much better after 2 weeks, and was able to go to back work and start back with light exercise.

I am not the toughest guy in the world. If I needed to I could probably have done some light chores after about 5 days - but It wouldn't have been very much fun.

FWIW

I had a pretty rough recovery, especially compared to most fellow patients of my surgeon.
Probably because of a pretty invasive, long-lasting surgery, where I basically was implanted twice during the same surgery.
Another surgery I had in my dick a few months before implant probably added to recovery time as well.

I struggled to get to my office job after 3 weeks, but still did.
Physical labor..? Would have been very tough after 3 weeks. Probably not till 4 weeks.

My issue was just pain in the scrotum when standing up. Pulsating pain which went away immediately when lying down.
But lying down won't get much work done at a farm, will it..?!?

Anyway, many guys are up and running much faster than that.

Post-op days 1-2 were a breeze. Had the drain removed on day 2 and I felt good. Went to the office briefly day 3 and that proved too much. Should have stayed down and later the doc admitted that he should have left the drain in longer. Next 2 weeks were pure misery spent laying/sitting/squirming. The pain of having just been kicked in the balls was almost constant. Meds did take the edge off. Developed a slight fever that seemed to come and go for a few days, feared possible infection & took a couple weeks worth of antibiotics. One tiny spot on my incision was slow healing. I finally started using RSO cannabis oil and that helped seal it. Improvement after 2 weeks was rapid. Fully resumed normal light activities. Began light weight training at 4 weeks. Take it easy on the farm work for just a bit.

Prior to surgery, I swam 1 mile 3 times per week.

I must be a slow healer. I returned to the office 5 weeks after surgery and I was still very uncomfortable. I’m almost 9 weeks post op and I still have periodic penile pain and scrotum soreness from the pump!

However, I’m able to shovel snow (which is a lot in Chicago) without much difficulty.

Hot baths have helped a lot!
