So, I am about 5.5 months post op and very happy. Pump 30-40 pumps every night. Sometimes I fall asleep and wake up with major wood. Feel like I am 20 again.
Today, I had to go see an eye surgeon. (Totally unrelated) Anyway, this cute little 20 something is rooming me and reviewing my meds and histories. :" Have you had any major surgeries in the last year?"
I couldn't think of how to say, I had surgery to put steal in my dick so I just said no. Curious what others have said?

Joe Behot,
They are medical professionals.
You had a medical procedure.
Tell it like it is, say it loud, say it proud!!!
"Yes, I had a penile prosthesis procedure"
There is no shame.

IPP is the answer to your question of what to say! Just tell them IPP. They will know exactly what your talking about. I have used this three times and it has worked very well every time. Implant Penile Prosthesis!

Unfortunately those who aren't in urology don't always know what IPP means though. My PCP had no clue what an IPP was and I explained after which he understood but didn't know the abbreviation. It's not that he didn't know what an inflatable penile prosthesis is, but he didn't understand "IPP" meant the same thing.

Don't over estimate the staff that collects your stats & guides you to your room. The staff for the dr that my wife both see will ask why you are visiting today. For quite a while my wife would answer SSDD. "Same shit different day" for those that don't know the acronym. Finally the dr asked her to stop doing that because they couldn't edit the electronic file.
Maybe a year later, a girl asked what the visit was for. My wife said "I used to say SSDD". Before she could finish the girl exclaimed. "Your the one, they warned me about you".

Re: Who do you tell
The reason they ask for that is because for some things they will give you antibiotics prior to even a cleaning. I had metal staples in my foot from a bad injury and they wanted to do that for years. Things have changed a lot since then. But best to let them know and check or to check with your doctor ahead of time. They are worried about infection and being responsible for it. So they need to know. If your doctors office gives them the ok for it with out antibiotics you should not have any trouble. But if not they could go ahead and give them to you or cancel until they knew for sure.
Different dentist offices do things differently. One I went to had me contact my doctor for the antibiotics another wanted to provide them at the time of the visit. Some my require it and others not. I did not have to do it for my implant surgery though. But had I went closer to my surgery date I may have.

Re: Who do you tell
I'm not the least concerned telling a medical professional. I have also told 3 close friends, who all knew my Peeyronie's and resulting ED challenges anyway. I would like to think I will be loud and proud about my bionic dick.
20 years of severe Peyronie's plaque, 90 curve, hinging and ED. Cost me 1.5" L and 1" G.

I told my Dental Hygienist in the presence of my Dentist I had an implant. They were confused. They knew I had root canals, but could not fathom why I would go to another surgeon for a dental implant to replace any lost tooth. And they both knew my teeth were pretty healthy.
Not always, GT. Not always.

We have a great relationship with our dr & his staff. We would not be willing to say anything that would hurt anybody if it was to precede us. Btw, he kind of shares our sense of humor. We really like him.
He frequently has medical students getting practical experience in his office. He seems to like sending them in to interview us. We're good patients.

I would probably just say, "I had surgery on (date), but it was a long distance from my eye." If pressed, add, that it was urological. If I was feeling argumentative (or just entitled), I might ask why is a surgery below the waist significant to surgery above the neck. If they give a reasonable explanation (like the effects of recent general anesthesia or potential for infection or whatever), I would probably tell all. Of course, I would probable tell all anyway. An implant is nothing to be ashamed of. E.D. or impotence might be a LITTLE sensitive, but it is what it is. I am bald, too. And have cavities in my teeth. I hve to own it all.
