Hey FrankTalk,
-What do you guys think is the optimum cycling protocol for the average man that is practical? Seems like the regimens people are doing here are all over the place. Don't say 2-3hrs a day. The average man doesn't have time for that. I imagine the people that are doing that are unhappy with their size, or they have size but they're just obsessed to have more. The post-op instructions my doc gives his patients states to cycle in a bath 2-3x a day. 15 minutes of just resting to relax the penis, and then about 25 minutes of staying inflated. That's 80-120minutes, which doesn't work for the average working man. I asked how long this needs to be done and he stated 1-2 months, and then just use it for pleasure. That made me feel better to know it's temporary. Do you guys have a more practical effective method for cycling, while still getting results over time?
-Ran into a video from Dr. Perito that a vacuum pump is ok to use for 10min a day for people with implants. Read of someone using a vacuum pump while in the shower, with better results from water in the pump. Sounds like a good idea since it's convenient to use while I shower for 10 minutes daily. Which pump model's good? I've heard of the Bathmate Hydromax (expensive but affordable). Or should I forget about a vacuum pump, and substitute in more cycling while showering? Sounds ideal to do both based on my research.

First welcome to the site. Over in the general section you will find that there is a thread pinned to the top that has documents worth reading. That is a good place to start.
Cycling protocols are over the place for mostly 2 reasons. One we are all different and two doctors vary a lot. You should follow your doctors instruction and after released you can decide if and what you want to do. You can ask your doctor about VED use. The publications in the documents worth reading has a few that coves different protocols for this.
As far as size "loss" it is the number one complaint of implanted men. So the majority of what you are seeing and reading on this site is about size "loss" and trying to prevent it post op.
As far as your doctors instructions that may be what you start with from what I have read. Devices take a while to break in and we need to learn to operate them. So that would be something to do the first week or so and then warm baths to soften the device would not be needed. My device after 3 years does still work easier with a warm shower than without but can be operated without.
As far as the Video on VED use post op here is the paper on it. https://irp-cdn.multiscreensite.com/d88 ... action.pdf But I am not convinced that the VED use is the most relevant part of that paper. All the men in that study had early activation and reinforces the publication in the documents worth reading section on the "Coffin Effect". That publication show a relationship of loss of size with longer waits for activation.
I did not use a VED post op but did pre op. And the AMS 700 user guide I have dose mention it. So I would not be afraid to use it with an implant. But you can ask your doctor and decide for yourself. I had gains from long cycling alone out past a year and have recently just seen some more. From what I have read from other members is if you are able to use VED post of it does accelerates this. But you need to be careful with VED use as it can cause damage. Even low vacuum applied to fast can cause damage. We are talking about very slow gains here. Even with VED use you are looking at 3 or more months of work.
I hope this helps you understand this a bit better. You might create a signature like some of us have so we can better answer your questions and you won't have to keep typing them out when you post.

Re: Best cycling protocol, and making cycling more practical while still producing results
Thanks newbie (you sound like a veteran now). I'll review those links tomorrow morning. I'll bite the bullet and be aggressive with the time I put into cycling for a month or 2. I can live with it if it's temporary. I see Eid doesn't like VED. Doesn't even think it's useful pre-op, even though I mentioned the studies. Perito seems to feel different based on his public videos.
About the baths. We're supposed to lay flat in the tub. Because none of my standard size bathtubs are big enough, the erect penis goes above the water level of the bath. So my balls are under water but most of my penis isn't. Anyone thought of a workaround for this? I imagine it's better for recovery/cycling to keep all of a erect penis under the warm water. If I go on my side, penis is obviously is under water... but instructions state to lay on our back.

Heat is the key. As said this would be for the beginning in all the cases I read. Hot showers work for me as did a heating pad. Ice any injury immediately after and for a few days then heat after a time depending on the injury. The heat will not only relax your tissue and promote healing but make the device easier to operate. But if you can follow your doctors instructions. I am not a doctor and your doctor is.
My doctor was not a fan of VED either. Might be because of men over doing it or pumping the VED to fast causing damage. Perito like Eid feels that you should get an implant as soon as possible and not worry about VED therapy pre-op from the video I watched. He also was a strong Coloplast guy and made some very unkind statements about AMS but every man in the study that I posted the link to was implanted with a LGX. And as I said it is referred to in my AMS 700 user DVD. As long as they say not to do it you should be good. I tried it and had pain due to a problem I have been trying to get fixed. And have not used it again. I may try it again once the problem is fixed, and healed.

I would NOT use the bathmate. It can cause to much pressure on the penis and screw up the cylinders. Then you will need a redo like had yesterday. .

I didn’t do any baths. Just take a hot shower, that works and prevents infections.
A young guy in his early 30s from South Asia. Implanted Titan 22cm by Dr. Tariq Hakky in Atlanta (Dec 2020). Amazing doctor! No pain during recovery. My size is 5.75” x 4.6” which is better than pre-OP size of 5.6” x 4.5”. Hoping to gain more in future.
Re: Best cycling protocol, and making cycling more practical while still producing results
I've always hated using ice anywhere on my body. Gives me deep down chills that make me shake. So I did not use any ice after my implant. Whether that made any difference I'll never know. It did take me a long time to feel better.
As far as cycling that was something my doc never told me about, and I didn't learn until 5 months post when I found FT. All I know is for the first 3 months my penis felt like it was sunburned, after month 3 till about month 6 that sensation would return every time I'd inflate. Needless to say no cycling was done because of that. When I did learn that's something you should do, I did begin cycling once daily around month 5 1/2. I always sat in a hot bath to help loosen things up. I cycled for about 2 1/2 to 3 months with no gain noted, so I quit.

It's your lucky day. Search on any major online retailer for "bathtub overflow cover". A suction cup that you can easily put over the mechanism that stops your water level in the tub from going higher. Enjoy.
As far as cycling, I think I follow close to an average cycling regimen, but I don't feel qualified to answer because I'm only 1 month postop. Nonetheless, I do 30min once a day. I set an alarm 30 minutes before I wake to make it convenient.
But the shower feels better for cycling than the heat pad I use. Bath feels better than shower. I read a source that a healthy male has 3-5 nocturnal erections for 20-35 min each, and often wake up with morning wood. Because people with implants don't get any or maybe few nocturnal erections, you probably want to consider what's natural when making a cycling routine. I may consider switching to cycling twice a day for 20 minutes right before bed, and after waking. After 2-3 months, I'm only going to do it when convenient (shower/downtime)
