Cystoscopy question

Postby oddjob » Sun Apr 11, 2021 9:36 pm

I have a cystoscopy tomorrow...does it hurt?

The doc says he will look for “erosion” because I have weak/intermittent urine stream after my implant operation.

Do you still have your prostate? It will be uncomfortable when the cystoscope reaches that point. My doc was fond of saying "a little pressure, now..."

I have had a couple cystoscopy procedures. I found they hurt a lot less than the catheter I had after my implant surgery. A good doctor will show and tell as they do the procedure.

I've had 2 Cystoscopy. The nurse will apply a ointment to numb your penis. I did not experience any pain, it was just uncomfortable.

oddjob,
By now maybe you had your cystoscopy. How'd it go?

Sounds more like classic BPH and not related to the implant. The pesky prostate causes a lot of problems as we age, and even if you slice some off it keeps growing.
Born 1956, TRT, Peyronies (no improvement after 1 cycle of Xiaflex so discontinued), using alprostadil but have possible VL. Considering an implant. Aquablation for BPH Nov 2 2020, TURP 6/14/2021.

Well, the cystoscopy went well...no evidence of erosion...but it was uncomfortable being surrounded by three strange men all staring at my penis...LOL

Try experiencing MY first cystoscope appointment: the urologist and his female PA (or nurse?) who got to handle me first and insert the lidocaine gel in the urethra a while before the doctor did the procedure. If I recall correctly there were two females there, one nurse and another. I've evolved considerably over the last two years though. Over two years ago I would've refused to have a female doctor perform a physical exam on me because I didn't want to be naked and touched down there by a female doctor. Now I don't care who sees me naked, or really if they touch me down there either. I lost all modesty after I was in the hospital in May 2019.

I guess your mileage varies. My cystoscopy was the most painful part of the experience.
