AMS 700 CX - cycling issues with pump - PLEASE ADVISE

Trying to cycle for the first times and when I push on the pump, the first pump is always a nice big full depression into a refill. However, once the first pump is done, the pump becomes very difficult, seemingly impossible to pump a second time or more. I have tried pressing like hell until it slips from my fingers, which isn’t very pleasant at all. I am able to depress the pump maybe 10% for little baby pumps and it seems as though I cannot max out my device.

Any advice is helpful

I have the same implant. At first the pump is hard, stiff and challenging. The first press on the pump to begin inflating often is really hard, and I may only get a small amount to flow, then the second time, I get that "pop" and feel the fluid flow into my penis in subsequent presses on the pump bulb. I'm not quite 3 months post op, and the pump has softened significantly, and is now easy to inflate and deflate.

Have you spent some time feeling of the pump, learning how it is shaped and where the deflate button is? If not, do some exploring, I think it might help. Didn't your physician give you some training or set you up with the AMS rep for instruction? Did the surgeon give you the AMS packet following your surgery? It contains a replica of the pump, a use video, a card to carry detailing your implant. Where and who did your implant? If I were you, I would call AMS (Boston Scientific) and ask for the patient liaison for your area, and call that person for guidance. They "might" be able to set up an instruction session without the doctors orders. I don't know for sure, but they are incredibly helpful and nice. I don’t think it’s a matter of softening it up, because I always get a completely compressed first pump. I can feel the entire thing smush all the way in, then when it fills back up, the best I can get it a mini-pump until I deflate. Once I deflate, I can get that first big pump again and then the bulb go stiff again until I deflate.

Heat is your friend with starting cycling. I used a heating pad but if you are cleared for baths you can do that also. Then as posted look at your AMS DVD for different ways to inflate. I hold the tubing going into the top of the valve block and use my fingers and base of my thumb. But there are many other ways in the DVD I received. If you don't have it it is online at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwp0YfSLxIU These things are built really tight and curable to last 10 to 20 years so it takes a bit to get them working and for us to get used to them. But heat really helps when you are starting out.

Try depressing the deflate button before that first squeeze. Might be the valve block is tight and again use heat to help free it up. There are trouble shooting steeps in that DVD also you can follow.

Hey guys Implanted mid March,
The pump does get better. I'm at almost 2 month and it does get easier. In the beginning I was like- "Damn I want to slap a AMS engineer!" Lol, I was designing pumps on scratch paper -Lol, It gets better Mine gets better with each cycling. My problem now is auto fill,I was at Dr. today for pre-op (Reservoir correction) but he noticed that I was not completely emptied at flaccid state, I told him it kinda refills its self. we both messed around with it. He stated -"its not suppose to do that" so after we did a full and complete deflate and we were evaluating another issue I was having with my pump location - being utterly stuck in one spot in my scrotum, a few minutes had passed and and my implant had refilled a bit (like 1.5 pumps) He's like- we need to watch that it... may be its because its all new and the valve is still seating.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info.

I’ll try to add heat, but I have tried this even in a hot bath before. I’m hoping that like you said, they’re built to last, that it’s just being a bit stiff (no pun intended lol)

The first 2 days of cycling were like hell to me. Pain was everywhere in and around the implant area. Don't worry. It will get smoother gradually. After just a week, you will be able to pump to more than 90% or even 100%.

I have the LGX not the CX but I'm pretty sure the pump is the same. As newbie443 stated, push the deflate button before inflating. I always do and make the first pump pretty forceful. Once you hear/feel the pop of the valve shifting you should be good to go. I'm a little over 2 years in and my pump has broken in nicely but I do remember it was very stiff at first. Just keep working at it and it should get easier. I still use 2 hands pumping because the pump shooting out of between your fingers and across your scrotum into a nut is just plain painful LOL.

So today I heard the pop... it was about one full pump before the bulb was already so stiff I could probably get a 10-20% pump out of it after the first. This is becoming very frustrating.
