I pretty much wore a jock 24 hours a day for a month following surgery. I was 70% inflated first 2 weeks and about 30% for another two weeks until meeting the AMS rep for activation. I bought a bunch of McDavid basic, wide band jocks. The pouch is roomy but still firmly held my dick upright. For me this was the most comfortable position, and I think contributed to my erect angle being excellent now. I still pull one on occasionally when my sack gets tender following a long or more intense sex session. It is still uncomfortable for me to push my dick into the straight down position over my balls. But keeps getting better.

It’s definitely more painful w the jock keeping the penis pointed up
But that. Is done for a better angle later on?

I didn't find the up position painful, but we are all different. Freeballing was however, really painful for about 2 weeks.
And yes, keeping your penis up during first few weeks of healing will help with the angle of your erection. Your body will close in (scar) internally around the implant, and this position is maintained by that scaring later on. That's basically how my doctor explained it to me anyway.

I believe Dr. Eid’s post op instructions say you can stop wearing it (and stop pointing your penis upwards) once you start cycling regularly). Believe it or not, after a few weeks it will become more comfortable to let your penis hang down. The cyclinders do become more pliable 4 - 8 weeks post op.

I last used the jock on travel day to get home, since I didn’t have anything else. Ordered a 4-pack of David Archy micro modal separate pouch briefs last day in NYC, and just got them today. So far, I like them way better than the jock. Re: how long to keep it pointed up, Eid recommends at least 2 weeks.

I last wore the jock through post op day 3. I ordered that same brand of boxer briefs with the pouch. I put two pair on and pull them tight. The jock was causing way too much irritation and pain. My swelling plateaued at a certain point on Monday and has not improved. Got a doc appt in the morning to make sure there is no infection, and see what I need to do about recovery.

My discharge instruction gave the amount of time for me to wear one. But doctors are vary different so you may be much different from what I was at something like 3 days. Check your discharge instructions and if not in that ask your doctor.

My discharge instructions didn't say anything about wearing the jock provided and nothing about pointing my dick up. He left me 20-30% inflated. I was cleared to go home and shower (pat dry). My doc did recommend wearing tighter shorts for support.

Two weeks later, he recommended a jock (no mention of pointing up). Now, I think that was wrong while early healing was happening. My dick points down 8^{ (4-5 o'clock). I wear a jock, pump up as much as possible, and point my dick up while trying to go to sleep. An hour or so later, I'll usually get up and remove the jock and deflate so I can sleep.

In defense of my doc, he was dealing (maybe the first time) with someone on blood thinners. He was concerned that I not bleed at all. I have no problem with clotting, I have a problem with unclotting. I ended up with a couple of hematomas in my scrotum. When he let me go back on the thinners two weeks after surgery (my regular doc wanted me to go back on them immediately after surgery), things started getting better.
