edit 11/16/21: Revision post on page 11
I just finished my pre-op appointment and am good to go for the operation on 6-25-21, one week from today. I've spend countless hours on this forum over the past 3 years and can not thank the men that came before me enough. I think I have read about 95% of the threads on this board. This journal is just my way of paying it forward to any poor souls that find themselves here in the future.
I will be getting a Coloplast Titan, I believe with the original Genesis pump. It will be infrapubic and I will have have a drain left in from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. No narcotics. Just Gabapentin, Tylenol & Aleve (I am allergic to Celebrex).
I am 17cm stretched, so we will see what size Titan he chooses. I am not overly concerned with size. I do expect to gain some girth though.
Background
I developed ED at age 18 after taking Saw Palmetto with grapefruit juice. I developed all symptoms of PFS and have made slow improvement in all symptoms over the past 17 years with exception to ED/sex drive. I've been on literally 100+ treatments with 10+ doctors, some the best in the nation in their respective fields.
After seeing a local urologist a few years back and getting a doppler ultrasound, he was reluctantly willing to implant with a Titan since I had lost luck with pills, injections suck, and I had Venous Leak. However, my insurance at the time had an exclusion. The following year, I had no insurance. Finally this year, I got insurance without an exclusion. Right before then I discovered that one of the top upcoming young implanters in the nation had began operating in Indy (2 hours south of me) so I started seeing him. I liked the idea of not being implanted in a hospital/city where I likely know a number of the nurses. Tatem does 300+ implants per year.
After 3 denials by my insurance this year, Tatem finally got them to cover it. Thank God, because I was beginning to think I was going to have to have to pay out of pocket. Dr Tatem did a vasectomy and epididymal cyst removal about 12 weeks ago, so I had a decent idea of the tender recovery I will go through.
I left out the whole piece about my wife being against my implant and how I am now in the middle of a highly contested and toxic divorce process, but you can read how I came to that decision here ( viewtopic.php?t=16338 )
The only real fear I have is the flaccid bulge. I had a decent bulge even with ED, to the point where my wife would even get made/jealous that other girls could see it. I just don't want it to get any bigger as I treat many children in my daily practice.
Dealing with ED sucks, it just plain sucks. I can not begin to tell you how many times I had a women in bed where I couldnt get hard and had to play it off. It got to a point where I would find naked, hot women in bed with me, but I would make any excuse I could to not have sex with them. It truly sucks. On the flip side, I have been lucky enough to have 2 very amazing children despite this all.
One week from today I will wake up a part of the bionic brotherhood and will hopefully begin to begin testing it within a few weeks after that.
