Revision with Dr Levine

Hello FT brotherhood members,
It’s just my second post on FT. I was implanted on 4/13/21 by my local urologist. He is a very experienced surgeon and claims to have implanted thousands of patient’s penises. He got most of it right but left my cylinders short of my glans because of scar tissue interference. As a result, my glans is unsupported and I no longer have tumescence in it (I did before the procedure). My head bends ninety degrees and I can’t feel it during intercourse which is not what I expected. It also makes my dick feel short because the cylinders (22cm) feel like the end of it. Sex is awkward and sometimes painful. I saw him today to express my dissatisfaction and he basically stated I just have to learn to live with it.
I live three hours from Chicago and today I scheduled a consultation appointment with Dr Laurence Levine for early September. I have been researching implant specialists and he appears to be an expert in the field. Does anyone have any experience with him? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
This site is quite amazing for general information and support. What a resource for such a private and personal matter. Thanks to everyone for their input!

IMO what your surgeon said about having to live with it is just an excuse for unjustifiable under sizing your penis.
I heard a lot of positive reviews about dr. Levine, and I believe he can give you a clear idea about the situation.
All the best.

Thank you for your reply. I think your response is right on the money. I left his office in disbelief. I hope the insurance company will pick up the cost of the procedure. That’s a nice chunk of change to personally cover for something that shouldn’t have happened. Appreciate your input.

How did you end up with scar tissue? I thought most surgeons are able to remove that when performing the surgery?

How far below the glans are they? Is it possible with a year of cycling they will move into the glans?

I don’t know. I was puzzled by his remarks after the surgery. I still am. After reading about some of the major problems experienced by several of the members on this board; and subsequently being successfully treated, I thought getting through scar tissue would be a fairly routine problem to solve. I was more than surprised to learn he wasn’t up to the task. I do love my implant, but it’s not acceptable at this point. I’m going to a proven surgeon. I’m not rolling the dice again.

They’re at the very end of my shaft. We discussed the issue today on a follow-up appointment. He told me he wanted to see me every six months so he could watch for erosion problems. I was told not to leave it inflated for long periods of time. He then told me I have a very large shaft but a small glans. I told him it wasn’t like that before the procedure. My glans will not engorge. It bends 90 degrees. He said I’ll have to live with it. I left his office determined to get my penis fixed by a pro. I hope Dr Levine can help get everything on track. I have faith he will.

Cyrano, you haven't mentioned your first surgeons name. But allow me to speculate a little. You mention that he claimed to of implanted thousands of men. If you will accept that a high volume surgeon does at least a 100 implants a year. How could this guy of reached thousands, notice I used plural, of implants without him showing up on the forums radar??? Since I don't know his name & I don't really have a reason to know it, I'll leave that alone.
Have you used the search function on FT to see if he has been noticed by the members? I'll go out on a limb & guess that there isn't much info about him.
I don't know about the Titan but I've read what passes for an installation manual from AMS. It sounds pretty easy on the surface. I can see a doctor being a "little" over confident in claiming his "experience".
I'm sorry that this happened to you. I wish for the best outcome on your revision. Btw, you might be obliged to wait some time to see if it gets better by the new doctor.

Gt1956,
I have not seen his name listed by any members on this board, that is true. However, his practice is listed on this website as a center of excellence for implant procedure. He’s an older doctor, so to me, I thought it plausible that he had enough experience to implant many, many patients over the years. He proudly proclaimed he was the foremost authority on men’s sexual health in the Midwest. I spoke with an older gentleman who was implanted by him and was totally pleased with his results. He also speaks at the doc’s seminars for potential implant patients. So I bought in. And since the doctor hasn’t been mentioned by any members on this board, he shall remain nameless.
