Implant before grad school semester?

Hey,

I am thinking of getting an implant over my christmas break. I have about 4.5 weeks off of school (I'm in grad school) and wanted to get it done then. However, if for some reason there is an issue and I need to go back in for another surgery, I'm not sure I would be able to take that type of time off during my semester. What are your suggestions here? I could manage to take 1 week off during the semester but that would be it. Obviously this is in the off-chance there is an issue.

4.5 weeks is plenty of time. If you needed additional surgeries, the doc would likely want to wait 6 months or so to do so.

If you follow your doctor's instructions, that's plenty of time. Following the doctor's directions will help you heal as quickly as possible. I think the biggest concern for delaying your recovery would be infection. If you follow orders, you're unlikely to get an infection.

You'll probably want to stick close to home the first couple of weeks if your doctor is like mine and leaves you partially inflated. I went back to work a little over two weeks after my surgery.

I agree with the above. Follow your doctor's instructions and ice, ice, ice. I went back to work before the short term disability paperwork was disapproved (the doc's office didn't reply soon enough). I went back to work in just over two weeks. If there are no complications it shouldn't be a problem.
