Hello,
I’m opening this thread for another member here on FranTalk.
Is there anybody here that has had a myocardial infarction 2/3/4/5 years before getting an implant? His surgeon suggested to stop taking acetylsalicylic acid 7 days before the surgery but his cardiologist has adviced against it.
How did you manage to stop acetylsalicylic acid? How many days before the surgery? Did you have any problems with that? Thanks

I was required to stop aspirin and blood thinner for seven days before my surgery. I asked my cardiologist about that and he said that the drugs are out of your system after 4 days. He doesn’t like the idea of stopping the drugs and I would imagine all heart docs will text you the same.

this is a question that needs to be worked about by the implant surgeon and the cardiologist -- there is a lot at stake, so this decision is best left to the real fully credentialled experts
