Chronic constipation 9 months after surgery

Hi,
The implant works great fortunately, but I've had chronic constipation after the surgery. 9 months of it now. I pass stool every 1-2 days, but it's always hard. It used to be large enough that I would bleed a tiny bit, but I don't see blood anymore. I eat much healthier than the average person and tried many foods/probiotics/supplements for constipation. I know it's common to experience constipation for days/weeks after surgery, but is there anyone else out there that experienced constipation for many months after an implant? Senna tea works well for me, but I know it's a laxative that shouldn't be taken long term unless needed.

I don't have an implant but i had a minimal invasive surgery to my prostate a couple years ago and i had this constipation and poop hardness thing too. I think it's from the disruption the surgery causes down there. My bowel movement is still off , the sensation of pooping feels different but i am managing better and more normal bowel movement now. I walk 3-6 miles a day , stationary bike and sit-ups and i massage my lower abdomen area a few times a week and that seems to have definitly helped.

Fortunately I don't have your problem... Have you tried a fibre supplement... I use Metamucil daily and it works wonders for my gut health..
Maybe worth a try.

As we age, peristaltic action of the gut may slow down.
More fiber in our diet (both soluble and insoluble) helps.
Stool softeners help, as does drinking more water (WATER, not other stuff, though coffee does seem to stimulate peristalsis, it can generate tolerance, thus dependence)
I hope everything comes out OK in the end.

Make sure you're drinking enough water.
Eat several larger portions of greens several days in a row and then at least a few per week until you're normal. Collards, kale or something of that sort. Cook kale up with sausage and onions and they're pretty good by themselves. Even better with buttered non-sweet cornbread or whatever corn type thing Yankees would eat. If Hispanic I guess it would be Arepas, Pupusas, or Gorditas but I digress. I love turnip greens but lean more towards kale now after learning that turnip greens are the least nutritious of the greens. Most any greens will probably work, swiss chard, etc. Collards are great but I realize that's more of just a Southern thing but they're really just another type of kale. Anyhow, the greens will get you going again. Spinach too probably, but blech.
Make sure you're drinking enough water.
