AMS vs Coloplast is such a tough decision

Postby Blankloads69 » Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:56 pm

I'm pretty much confirmed for surgery already, but the more I read the more I'm torn between using the AMS and the Titan. I've read the pros and cons of each on the forum, and it makes my decision more difficult when I've consulted multiple doctors who swear by the AMS being better and others who swear on the Titan being better.

Has anyone here had both and prefer one over the other? I feel like some docs strictly work with one product or the other due to agreements with the company, like how a chain will either have Coke or Pepsi and never both, so I think patients who have used both will have the most honest answers on their experience.

I wil just say this. Some say the lgx does not get hard. Mine gets hard as a steel spike. I have to deflate it some for comfortable sex.

Thanks, oldbeek. I'm also going to have Dr Loh-Doyle and when I asked about using a Titan he said that AMS is great but if I am curious about using a Titan I could consult Dr Faysal Yafi at UC Irvine. Dr Loh-Doyle doesn't work with Coloplast for some reason.

I hear Dr Yafai is very good also. I have had 4 big surgery at USC. One was major and saved my life way back in 1995. I love that hospital, facility and staff. I don't know why I went to City of Hope for prostate cancer. They are the ones that started me down this road. After RP is was supposed to need 5mg Cialis daily. They removed all my nerves for a minimal low grade PC. Choose the best but do your own research.

oldbeek, do you recall your Gleason score on the PC?
I am satisfied with my AMS CX but would have preferred the LGX.

Blank,
I had both: first was Titan and second is now AMS CX.
I prefer AMS CX over Titan. AMS feels completely natural for my wife and I.
Another adventage is : When deflated, AMS looks nice flaccid and I don’t feel cylinders in my shaft nor tubing in the scrotum.
Only disadvantage for AMS is larger pump block.
If future replacement is needed, it will be AMS again.
Of note: I have the same circumference with both Titan and AMS CX 5 3/4 inches.
I hope this helps.

MK,
I find your comparison extremely helpful. After considerable research I’m leaning toward the CX for all the same reasons you gave. My only hesitation is the blocky pump design. It just seems like the corners of the valve block could poke and irritate the boys more so than the Titan pump. Or maybe I’m imagining something that isn’t really a concern.

Could you elaborate a bit more on the disadvantages you experienced with the AMS pump?

I have the CX and after a few weeks, the two boys got used to their new roommate. It was never painful, just a little sore for a while, and that would come and go. I don't think you need be too concerned. This whole experience takes some patience early on but is so very worth it!

Flounder,
Like SteveSW said, you get used to it sooner or later. Pump block is bigger but if it is placed at right place mor on the back of scrotum, you won’t even feel it. It has another good adventage: it pumps much faster compared to OTR and it gives better deflation then the OTR.
10-15 wall-to-wall pumps and your ready to go.
