Understanding the AMS 700 inflate/deflate

Postby OldRover » Tue Feb 01, 2022 1:46 pm

Hi,
New to the implant, did in Dec 21, and today it's been 7 weeks. Saw the doc last week, checked everything out, gave instructions, etc., and said everything fine.

Well, I'm planning on seeing the doc again, as things are NOT working, but thought I'd get the collective wisdom of this group which I find amazing.

I've followed the instructions verbatim.
To inflate, squeeze quickly and firmly, then release to activate. (what does activate mean?) Then continue to pump to get an erection. When I squeeze, regardless of how hard, the bulb is hard as a rock and notice very little action, but believe I got a "bit" erect.

So, then I tried to deflate whatever is there. Right now, seems like a soft erection, but it's enough for penetration. The directions say, squeeze the deflation bulb for 4 seconds and it will start to deflate. My does nothing, and I find it VERY hard to even find the deflate button. Some times I feel it there and somethings it seems like it disappeared.

I'm going to warm the jacuzzi, get real loose and try again, but not optimistic.

Any ideas?

When I want to inflate, I give the pump a series of small squeezes and finally the bulb relaxes, then I can pump up.

First of all baths and even more so hot tubs have a lot of germs and the reason we are told not to use them until the incision is healed for fear of infection. So be careful with this. I used a heating pad as it is dry heat and I could keep my incision covered and protected from infection. The pump block has valves in it. And it is made to last a long time so it is very tight at first. Activation is used in different ways. Many times to indicate when we start cycling. Some wait 3 days, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, or 6weeks before we start operating or cycling through the inflate and deflate modes. Activate is also used sometimes to refer to switching to one mode or the other. As in activating inflate or deflate mode. The valves that do this are in the pump block where the deflate button is.

Now there are indicators when the valves are properly switched. If you are in deflate mode after leaving your doctors office and start to cycle you need to switch to inflate mode. The quick firm complete depress of the pump bulb is required to do this. You should feel a pop that means it switched properly. If not on the first squeeze then on the 2nd or 3rd. If you don't get the pop then deflate and try again. For deflate mode you need to press the deflate button firmly. You my sometimes feel a faint click that indicates you are in deflate mode. when in deflate mode there is a buzz of the fluid going back into the reservoir. If this buss continues after you release the button you are in deflate mode. If not you need to press the deflate button again. You can squeeze your penis to force fluid back into the reservoir to check this. And be careful not to press the deflate button and squeeze the pump bulb at the same time. This will cause the valves to hang up between modes.

If you have your uses DVD then review it again for different ways to operate your device. Surgeons have strong skilled hands and a better angle on operating the pump. We are reaching the pump from a different direction and have to go around our penis and it takes a bit of learning to do this. Your DVD should have a trouble shooting section. You might try running through some of those steps to see if they help. If you still have trouble then you should call your AMS rep and have them help you with what ever problem you are having.

Thx for the ideas.

First, this thread is NOT about infection nor the hazards of a jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was highly recommended by my doc AND the tech rep from AMS.... so, I'll use it.

I've just barely got some signs of things working. Actually heard a bit of something flowing, kinda like a spurt. Also, the bulb is squeezing a bit better. Will keep trying. Thanks again for the ideas.

Honestly I can tell you pretty confidently what the problem is - you've gotta be patient. Implant is always gonna seem worthless for the first month or two.

I mean that, because right when I was about 1 or 2 months out like you are now, it seemed like everything was broken and my dick had lost 3 inches permanently. It didn't. Give it time. You've got plenty of it.

I have had the same problem.
Do not know if this will work for you. however I will tell you how it worked for me. I am not in any way telling you to try this, this is what I did, and it is working for me. I found this idea looking through old posts in the forum.

For me I find the countertop for the bathroom sink is the correct height. Placing a hand towel on the countertop, place the scrotum on the towel, be certain the deflate button has been reset locate the pump bulb , with one or both hands, keep the pump block from moving , then try to get a solid, push on the pump bulb. Stay clear of the deflate button. Should hear a slight pop. You will feel the bulb deflate completely. After that the bulb will refill and be somewhat rigid. I have only been able to get smaller pumps on the bulb , the bulb will refill, and it will take multiple pumps to achieve the desired result. Afterward pressing the deflate button and holding it I hear a slight buzzing sound and the fluid moves back to the reservoir.

Lil Willy,

thx will try that. Right now I'm not sure if the deflate button is working, it's very hard to even locate, and when I find something of a bump, I push it and nothing happens. I've tried the reset and rebood, without success.

lAS,
Yes, I'm probably impatient, but would like to know if it's even working.... I'll keep working on it daily like I've been doing. The bulb has been very hard since day one and hard to tell if I'm making any progress squeezing it. At times I think I've found the deflate valve and sometimes if seems to work but don't notice my penis getting any smaller. Don't even know if I've partially inflated it, but seems like I'm walking around with half a hard on that won't go up or down.
Certainly not giving up, but would be nice to know if its working or if I'm doing something wrong.

How long was it until you realized that it is working and see some results?

Thx for the help

I believe knowing if you are deflating it or not should be pretty simple. When you hold the button to deflate, do you hear or feel that buzz kind of sound? Like a vibration. If you are inflating it you should recognize that, I'd think. (I don't recall 100% what it was like at first, but this seems accurate.)

Oh and I figured out our days since surgery here and I think I was right where you were before things got better. Mine was Nov 2nd and not until Dec. 20th or so was I getting "gains." That was 48 days. You're about 54. Keep inflating and making sure you're deflating also. You're not running behind yet, keep doing some work.
