Anyone had a MRI on lower back without any complications with their implant? I’m scheduled for a MRI without contrast on 6/5/22, & concerned what, if any, there might be with it affecting my implant. Would appreciate any feedback you may have? Thx, Bailey

I just had an MRI of the lower back with contrast about 2 weeks ago. My implant is the AMS 700 CX. I had no problem with the 1.5 Tesla unit our hospital had (I think 3 Teslas are the maximum with this implant). The young technician was very cautious and kept asking if everything was going good down there, and I felt no sensations.

Since getting my implant I've had a couple MRIs on my low back. No problems, but during one I did feel a bit of warmth down there. There are specific settings the tech needs to use, so inform them you are implanted. I know at one time I found the settings for my Coloplast, but not having luck finding that on Google now.

I have had MRI's and gave my card to the folks ahead of time. The card has the MRI conditional information on it, All my device serial number and device model numbers, and the phone number to call AMS. They all seem to want to call AMS for some reason. So if you can notify the MRI folks ahead of time. They have a questionnaire and it does ask if you have a penile implant. I keep a card in my wallet so it is with me where ever I go.
