I had a radical prostatectomy in August of 2021. My PSA remained almost non-existent until last month when it rose to the level high enough to be concerned. I retested today and it is higher than last month.

This probably means my cancer has returned and the treatment is likely to be radiation and hormone therapy.

I am scheduled for an implant with Dr Brady in Orlando on July 14th.

Has anyone gotten an implant while undergoing cancer treatment?

My PSA started raising 6 months after my implant was done, I had about 33 sessions of radiations plus two shots of hormones treatment. Hormone treatment may cause your penis to shrink but thanks that I was already implanted i did not lose any length due to the injections; however, they killed my sex drive to the point that I did not want to have any sex at all, after the treatment it took me about 9 months to regain some of my sex drive. After two years my PSA is undetectable, I need to get a blood test done every 6 months which is very nerve wracking but I still OK.

My suggestion is to get the implant done to protect your self against losing length and focus 100% in your treatment and recovery.

Which hormones? Testosterone?

As testosterone feeds prostate cancer the treatment is to suppress testosterone and bring it down to a minimum, side effects are several including lost of sex drive, lost of muscle mass, testicles get also very small and hot flashes, lots of them.

But donot worry, once the treatment is over all these symptoms start to disappear, it will take time, but they will go away.
