If you are really good friends, you'd tell him it's less than a four-hour drive to Houston to see one of the best. Men are flying in from Australia and Tokyo to have Clavell perform their surgery

I'd be going to Clavell too.

No easy answer here. I'm sure that there are great implanters in Dallas but who are they? I checked edcure.com and found some but who knows what they will give your friend? There are a lot of stinkers out there. And every one looks great. Until you wake up. You could use reviews but none cover IPP surgery exclusively. Senior centers boards are a good start but often guys who have this surgery won't talk. Making an appointment and sitting in the foyer gives you a chance to talk with other patients and finding your answer. All long shots at best. Hopefully someone on FT knows a great IPP surgeon. Good luck.

I used Dr Wierschem at Plano Baylor Scott medical center as did a good friend of mine. We both had a great easy recovery and very little pain. He does infrapubic and doesn’t use a catheter. He also does the Perito minimally invasive technique and is considered a high volume Dr. Only thing I’m not totally satisfied with is my resivor placement as I’ve had double hernia repair with mesh on both sides and as he explained prior to surgery he would put resivor just under fasciae and it would and does show a bunch. My length is down about 3/4” but hoping to gain a little of that back as I’ve gained a 1/4 as of now. He leaves a drain in for a couple days and takes it out. I had almost no swelling and could feel the pump and deflate valve from day one and never got any swelling except a bit around the incision. Hope it was helpful. Would give him a consult and ask about resivor placement. Also he uses Coloplast

Ken, my only complaints about our surgeon are that he is dismissive of the patient's questions or concerns, doesn't appreciate patients who do a little research (he called me "Dr. Google") and doesn't give his patients as much time as I think he should (he has a full time urology practice and also does a lot of implants and other surgeries).

He told me while I was healing that it was "impossible" for me to ever get any kind of natural erection or tumescence after the implant because he "totally destroyed" the cavernosum tissue. When I saw him this past January I again brought up that I was getting some degree of natural erections at times of intense stimulation and he capitulated and said it's not unheard of in implanted men.

Hands down the best class act in Dallas is Dr. Alan Morey at UT Southwestern medical center. He’s the chair of the medical school urology department. He’s also one of the highest rated implant surgeons for AMS implant devices. On top of that he’s incredibly likable and very thorough with explaining everything. I’ve had over 20 prior major surgeries with half a dozen surgeons. I KNOW a competent surgeon when I meet one. He has also done revisions on the so called big three doctor’s patients. I’ve spoken at a number of his seminars he holds for an auditorium full of men seeking answers. UT Southwestern doctors routinely make the annual 100 Best Doctors in Texas. It was another UT surgeon who cured my abdominal issues 15 years ago that ended all my major surgeries. I’ve been taken off a deathbed twice but consider what Dr. Morey did for me to be my greatest medical miracle.

And for what it's worth, regarding the doctor who did my implant, when I was worried that it wasn't done right, I went to Dave's recommended surgeon, Alan Morey for a second opinion and checkup. This was 6-8 weeks after surgery, right after I was cleared for sex again. Doctor Morey essentially gave his "THUMBS UP" for the work that my doctor did, saying that it was just fine and nothing wrong with it.

The doctor who did my implant (and Ken's) did quality work on mine, even if I posed some considerable challenges (he had to extend the right corporotomy very proximally due to excess scarring in the right corpus cavernosum, because he was having difficulty getting the rear tip in properly.
