Any experiences with Dr. van Renterghem?

Living in Belgium, I'm currently looking what options I'd have regarding surgery in the future. Could travel to the US, but having it done locally would be cheaper thanks to insurance (and even without insurance it would "only" be around €5000) and it would also be more practical in terms of logistics of course.

It seems that there is a high-volume surgeon in Belgium, Dr. van Renterghem, doing >150 implants per year. Apparently the clinic he works at is also widely recognised in the EU for its expertise in penile implants, but I haven't heard anything about him on this forum yet. For the Dutch-speaking folks, here is a video of him giving a conference presentation about penile implants: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIqb33BuzY0.

Any experiences?

Hey boot,

Does the cost you mentioned (5000€) is the cost for only the procedure (without the price of the implant) or 'everything'? I am UE citizen and also looking for some options... For example Antonini charges 28k€ which is a crazy price to me

He looks well trained: https://www.asvide.com/watch/32935

Btw I think there is no way to get a penile implant for just 5000€ in the EU if you have to pay 100% out of pocket. Maybe a malleable.

Indeed. he does seem like one of the expert surgeons. It would just be nice to hear about some experiences from other people on a forum like this.

As for the price, I do believe it is €5000 out of the pocket, and only around €1000 (i.e. ~€4000 being reimbursed) if you can get it through our national healthcare insurance. That indeed seems somewhat suspicious though, because I thought the implant hardware itself almost costed as much...

He replied that the invoice from the hospital that needs to be paid it's around 8500€. I asked about the details of the implant (what model it is, etc.) as well and will post that after I get the reply

Ok, that still seems relatively cheap. Thanks for keeping us up to date!

I guess 8500 is just a part of the bill.

I mean hospital and surgery room cost. Sort of that.
