Hi NOT-Stupid,
I will be having implant surgery on 9/20/22 by Dr. Faysal A. Yafi, Director of Men's Health, University of California, Irvine. I have complete confidence in Dr. Yafi. He practices out of two offices in Orange County: 333 The City Blvd West, Suite 2100, Orange, CA (714)-456-5378; and UCI Birch Urology, 20350 SW Birch St, Suite 210, Newport Beach, CA (714)-456-7005. Dr. Yafi does 4 operations a week, each Tuesday in Orange.
Dr. Yafi's staff will determine if your health insurance covers the operation, they know how to communicate with the insurance companies, let them do the work. If you are on Medi-care you are covered.
Spend as much time on this site as possible, use the search function to find answers to your questions, and question the members for clarification. In my humble opinion, you are headed in the right direction, do everything you can to be NOT-Stupid. Don't procrastinate, you have suffered long enough.

Hi - I'm in SF bay area, so not too far. Have an upcoming appt. with a Dr. Edward Karpman in Los Gatos for an implant, based on my reading so far leading towards Titan. Not sure what questions to raise in the initial consultation. From reading on this board, it seems opinion is divided between choosing the handful with national reputations (Eid, Clavell Perito) and the much larger set who routinely perform the procedure. Unless I come across something convincing, will likely go with someone closer. It would be great if the site provided a way to contact patients who have been operated on by a specific Dr.

I have an initial appointment in November with Dr. Loh-Doyle at USC/Keck School of Medcine. I've seen the name mentioned here and I live in Northern Nevada where I don't think there's anyone with any implant reputation. Can't say if he's a good choice for me yet - and I'm also scheduled with Levine in Chicago and Clavell in Houston - I plan to make a decision and get it done this year.
Anyway, another So Cal name to consider. Very interested in how it goes with Dr. Yafi at UCI - would prefer to stay west coast but willing to go to wherever I feel most comfortable.

I used dr Boyd at USC Keck in LA for my implant. His understudy who now does about 250 a year id Dr Jeffrey Lo Doyle. Dr Boyd was the go to guy in LA for 30 years. As far as know he still comes in to assist DrLo Doyle. Dr Lo Doyle installed my artificial urinary spintcher and Dr Boyd was there to assist him. Dr Boyd said he enjoyed his work to much to retire. USC Keck is an amazing hospital I all respects. I have had 5 major surgeries at Keck and totally happy with all of them. I drive 130 miles to go to USC/Keck.

Have you looked into Karpman in the Bay Area? He is very good and honest. When I talked to him he told me Dr. Boyd was right in my back yard and may be easier on me than traveling to the bay.

Private Message, Quincy, He used Karpman and wrote a journal about his experience. Search Quincy in the search bar or Boise ID He will give you details.

I agree with Oldbeek on Dr Doyle is a great choice. When I had my infection last year he took great care of me and had a wealth of knowledge and great bed manner. I also agree that the hospital is top notch with a bunch of great nurses. Dr Boyle was present and participated in my surgeries with dr Doyle. Feel free to message me and I can answer any questions

Thanks ! found his journal and PM'ed but his profile shows he hasn't logged on in a while. Among other questions, curious about how frequently Karpman does the procedure and whether he has a device preference (seems Quincy went with AMS. A higher volume seems like something to look for.

Thanks Oldbeek - haven't really considered Karpman - it's really hard to narrow down the list and pick someone. Every day I have a new name to consider. I probably should look into him more.
Had another suboptimal Trimix experience last night despite a hefty dosing. I think the vial is going into the garbage and I'll expedite this surgery. So tired of wondering whether my penis is going to work.
