Only thing that has gotten me by is my Separatecs, jock strap, and a waist fanny pack to hide the bulge. I've not been able to soak in the hot tub since there is still a small hole and have not gotten the doctor's OK to do so. Hopefully I will get that OK next week (finger's crossed).
Last week I canceled a dentist appointment since I do not want to sit in dentist chair with a pup-tent in my pants.
Any advice? Should I be worried?
You still have edema in your sac. You may not think so, but you have some, and any degree of swelling in there is going to complicate inflation and/or deflation. Examples galore on FT. My own experiences with this were extremely confusing and frustrating at exactly the same timeframe, weeks 4-8. But you have got to fight through and get comfortable and competent with both inflate and deflate and the sooner the better. I say this as a guy who kept driving back to his surgeon's office because I also could not figure it out. Hand-on learning experiences in office followed, and helped immeasurably with accelerating my learning curve.
I can't say I recommend what you seem to be describing - waking up with a full hardon. If you are saying that you are inflating, then falling asleep overnight fully inflated, that's not good. Especially in the early going. The capsule formation and function where your reservoir is placed - your body needs to learn and heal around a filled reservoir. It's quite important to return the saline into the reservoir regularly, more often than not, so that reservoir's size resists against your tissue and an appropriate volume of space in your body develops to accommodate. If you don't do this, you may find later that the reservoir functionally will not allow all the fluid to be returned into it, meaning more of it remains in your dick. If that happens, you are going to have a semi constantly and not be able to do anything about it if the reservoir learns to resist you. Also, there is a thing called capsular contraction which can develop and, in some cases, leads to your dick "auto inflating", which seems more than mildly alarming.
I advise you to be blunt with your surgeon/staff about your difficulties and get the most hands-on tutorial possible in their office and don't leave there until you have successfully inflated max, and deflated completely several times on your own under their watchful eyes.
