pump sticking

I know I have seen posts about this but my where my vertical scrotal inscision is, it seems the tissue uder the scar is very thick and I think it has attatched itself to the pump. I did feel for the pump the first week but that area of the inscision, I stayed clear of. Now I am concerned. I do not want to do any damage in trying to losen it from the pump but I dont really want my pump permantly attatched to any part of me just yet. I took a warm bath and massaged the area but it is tuck like glue. Cant call the Dr til Monday-anyone else had this issue so early on? I am 12 days post op-any help/advice appreciated-Jim

My surgeon is out this week but called the PA and told him about my tissue being stuck to the pump and could not tell by his response if I should be concerned or not. I have an appointment with him on Friday-am sure hoping another invasive procedure is not necessary- Two surgeries in 3 days about did me in. My black eye is gone but the Dermabond came off my eye brow and took my eyebrows with it so all you can see is my scar! I think they grow very slow-am ready for them and my pubic hair to grow back-do not like the shaved look- May have to borrow my daughters brow pencile-have been wearing my dark rimmed glasses and a cap down low so I do not have to answer the famous questio "What the hell happened to you?" lol
can some one tell me how to post pictures on FT? I am unsuccessful I emailed them from my phone and saved them in documents but cant get it to copy and paste when I click on Img.

Think I got it! This was from my fall the morning after implant! Damn Hydrocodone!!!

not sure if you have a problem, with the "sticking" that is, but I think pretty much everybody with the scrotal approach operation (mine was) have lots of swelling and so much in fact it is too early to really tell what is going on. Others have reported something they call a "hydocell"? , some type of fluid sack or hematoma, that surrounds the pump. I think this is not unusual and it takes a while for it to resolve itself. So, just try to relax for now, it is probably nothing to worry about. I did not have any of these problems but at two weeks it was still hard to find the pump even. Looks like you need to sit more??

A minor nit here, not that important overall, but I disagree with this generalization. I had mine done scrotal, and I think my swelling, as well as bruising and post-op pain was pretty minimal. I'd say in the top 5% of the recoveries I've read about. I'd agree with NE_Bob, who also was done scrotal (same doc as me) who said he could have walked naked in a locker room 2-5 days post-op and no one would have noticed anything unusual. On day 3 post-op I took a cab from the Bently Hotel in NYC to Laguardia, walked thru security and to the gate, flew 2+ hours on a plane, took a 45 min limo ride home, and stayed up and entertained guests who had brought dinner for me that night. And, all on Advil, without significant discomfort (stopped all narc pain medication 24 hrs after surgery). Drove a car on day 4 and did grocery shopping, and went out to dinner with friends. On day 5 walked 1.5 miles, and on day 6 about 3 miles. I know of others who were done scrotal, and had minimal swelling and easy recoveries.

How much swelling, bruising and pain you have post-op varies a LOT from one person do another. I'm not a medical professional, so I'm just guessing when I say that the variation probably reflects the skill of the surgeon, in part, and other unique variations in each individual and what has to be done to get the implant in place, in part. Maybe scrotal vs pubic approach matters, but I think I've read at least as many easy recoveries from those done scrotal as those done pubic.

From what I have read while researching my decision to go for the implant, to be done 11/7, I believe that there is just as much to recommend one approach as the other and the decision will depend on patient history and urologist preference.

My urologist will go for the scrotal approach both out of preference and out of the desire to avoid the considerable scar left by a retro-pubic radical prostatectomy. The RP has been a complicating factor in my surgery, having caused one delay due to scar tissue left in the neck of the bladder.

I am personally anticipating very little pain or bruising based on my reaction to the scar tissue removal and prior experiences with surgery in other areas. I am lucky in that i am resitant to bruising and generally have a high pain threshold. Let's hope that this is the case here also.

As I said in beginning, I believe that there is little difference in recovery times between the two approaches. It does seem that the scrotal approach is somewhat more popular, but that might be more due to the number of RP implantees, than to the quality of the procedure.

Oh yes, I had sticking! I swelled something fierce, so much that my uro couldn't find the release button and I walked around pumped up for 3 weeks or so. Search LGX log in this forum for the whole story. I normally don't have issues with medication, bruising, etc., but I've had my balls operated on twice (vasectomy and implant) and they swelled something fierce both times.

I soaked in warm water and would grab the pump and pull it down. I could feel the pump tearing away from whatever it was stuck to. It felt like pulling a bandage off your skin, only on the inside! Not pleasant, to say the least. But I worked at it and after about 2 or 3 weeks the pump was free. My doctor was quite surprised at the success I had getting it free. Mine was stuck so bad that it interfered with having intercourse, it looked like it was attached to the bottom of my penis. Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and just keep at it! Good luck.

Thanks Dave. I went back to see the PA last week and he felt around and said he did not think I should worry. The Dr had told me to pump up at least once a day even though it was early in my books-three weeks. I had difficulty squeezing the pump and wound up causing more scrotal pain thus keeping it inflamed. I have decided to lay off on the pumping for a week and see if the swelling under the vertical inciscion in my scrotum I am trying to keep my hands off but it feels the tissue under the inciscion is stuck to the bulb of the pump mechanism and when I did pump up a bit the pump was at the base of my penis too. I wondered about intercourse with it that way because with each thrust, the pump would be hitting. I am not going to touch it for a week and see what happens. Warm baths hot actually are my new friend. Thank you for your reply Jim
