Have you ever heard of this?

A good friend of mine had radical prostectomy 13 months ago due to severe cancer. He was implanted 12 days ago with a Boston Scientific and the Dr left him completely deflated…. Also don’t go in for his first check up til 6 weeks… Seems to me like he’s setting himself up for a long road to pumping and getting anywhere near his original size… anybody heard of leaving it completely deflated?

I had surgery on 10/24 and it is completely deflated. Not going back to the doctor until 5 weeks thereafter. Doctor is well known and well respected on this site (Levine), I am sure it will be fine.

Yes, I have heard of doctors who leave the implant deflated and don’t see patients for followup until six-weeks after the surgery. From what I’ve read on this site and elsewhere, these men seem to do just fine. I think it’s really important and wise to follow your doctor’s instructions and not be in a rush. Doctors have their reasons for their protocols. My doctor had me cycling and resuming intimacy three weeks to the day after my surgery. But other docs have their patients cycling within three DAYS of surgery. Others have their patients wait eight weeks. If your friend wants to speed things up, I think he should at least have a conversation with his doctor first. Just my two cents for what it’s worth.

I had my implant with Dr. Paul Perito last week. He left me deflated but he'll activate me when he removes my staples 11 days after surgery.

He typically releases his patients to have sex 2 to 3 weeks after surgery.

There are reasons for leaving a patient inflated and reasons for leaving him deflated. During surgery, the surgeon ma have observed some conditions that mitigate against inflation. So, the advice to talk over with you surgeon whatever one is contemplating doing is sound.

Yeah per my other thread my guy deflated it after inability to urinate postop.

I’m glad to see others have had this approach, with other high volume implant docs, and all is expected to be fine.

I see someone in his office tomorrow to have a drain removed that was draining the submuscular reservoir site. I’ll share any more info I get.

Hope my guy clears me for sex in two weeks. Oddly having my wife with me all day with the complications as well was good for us. She’s an RN (ICU) so the entire day was far from overwhelming.

So he did infrapubic?

Yes. Dr. Perito does infrapubic, pain block vs general anesthesia, no catheter, a drain which he removes two days later. His patients are typically cleared for sex in 2 to 3 weeks, some as early as 12 days.
