Sex before Surgery

A query I haven’t seen here before - apologies if i’m mistaken.

Would it increase the risk of infection to be having sex in the weeks leading up to / before surgery?

I know that surgery infections relate more to bacteria inside the body during surgery but as they give you anti bacterial scrubs in the days leading up to surgery, I thought it could be relevant to any exposure to other infections.

Not for me. Had sex three days before my implant. That's a whole other story.
Doc had me shower with Hibiclens the day before and morning of surgery. Keeping it clean afterwards is the important part. Any open area on the body is a path for bacteria to enter.

I would think that as long as sex didn't cause any skin damage then you should be ok. In essence, an open wound so to speak. Would be bad. If seen by the staff might postpone your surgery in my opinion.
