Titan Pump: Classic or One Touch?

I recently met with Dr. Eid to discuss IPP surgery. He recommended the Titan for me. With this system, he mentioned that I would have a choice of pump. Either the older "Classic" pump or the newer "One Touch" pump. He informed me about the relative pros and cons of each. One difference is that, in his experience, the older Classic pump has been more durable, generally lasting more years until failure versus the Touch. He explained that the Touch pump tends to fail more often in the tubing near where it attaches to the pump bulb and that the Classic tubes tend to be more resilient. He also mentioned some other differences like the Classic pump being able to transfer a greater volume of fluid per squeeze, thus pumping up the cylinders faster than the Touch. But also noting that the Classic has a tendency to be noisier during during inflation than the Touch.

Given this discussion, I find the possible longer lifespan of the Classic very appealing. But I am concerned whether it may be a bit more challenging to deflate than the Touch. And exactly how noisy the Classic is to inflate.

I am curious to hear back from Titan brothers and their experience with the pump whether it be the Classic or the Touch.

My surgeon had similar responses plus he said the classic is slightly smaller.

I am not a big guy so he chose the classic due to size and reliability.

Yes its a bit noisy but I have had oral sex while I'm pumping slowly and it wasn't noticed.

did you have oral sex while you were blowing, meaning you licked her pussy and you were blowing or she was giving you a head and you were blowing?

I'm pretty sure Floridaspeedo is gay. I took his post to mean that he pumped himself up while performing oral on his partner. I'm hetero but often do the same thing: reach down and get those last few pumps in while I'm "dining at the Y." If he managed to pump himself from half staff to full mast while receiving a BJ without his partner being aware of what he was doing, I'd be very impressed and would love to hear more about how he pulled that off.

Ron,
Happy to offer my experience. I’ve had both pumps. Yes, the classic is smaller and I did appreciate that. My OTR has to lie sideways in my scrotum to fit. The classic is noisier and that’s something my wife and I had fun with. I vocally mimicked the sound as I was pumping and thought I was very entertaining.

My revision was due to pump failure. My doctor initially recommended the classic for its reliability, but when I showed up at his office with my broken Titan, he had reversed himself saying he was “tired” of replacing the classic pump.

Go figure. Perhaps your urologist can confer with mine on the real story. I had three years to failure with my first Titan-classic. I have about 20 months with this OTR.

I am 3 weeks post-op with OTR by Dr. Clavell. OTR is less reliable than classic, according to some comments I have heard from other Urologists. I have even watched a YouTube video with Dr. Eid saying the classic has lasted 15 years.

In his experience, Dr. Clavell recommends the OTR over the classic.

I hope it lasts 12 plus years.

My surgeon installed the classic, he made a comment that the newer pump’s deflate valve tends to get sticky. I didn’t request anything, I left it all up to the doctor, so far everything is working fine. Yes, I do get the “quacking” sound on inflation, but not all pumps, the deflate valve is easy to use but you do have to squeeze it during the entire deflation, sometimes I get a vibrating type sound as the fluid flows through the valve.

I am happy with my installation.

Thank you for all the input, guys. This is really helpful.

Sounds like the docs have differing opinions on whether it is the Classic or Touch pump system that is more durable.

Some of you have mentioned about the noise or "quack" sounds the Classic can make while pumping. I am wondering exactly how noisy is it? For instance, would it be possible to pump up in an adjoining room and not have your partner hear it? Or is it loud enough to hear through a wall or door?

Has anyone found deflating the Classic to be challenging since the button has to be held down for the entire deflation process versus the OTR? Or is it quite manageable even so?

First, I have the One Touch...BUT I still press and HOLD while deflating.

And NO, the sound emitted by the pump is not that loud. Yes, in a completely quiet room, the wife can faintly hear the sound. (it let's her know what's to come)
