I’m scheduled for implant surgery on 1/19/23. We have a very close family and I’m struggling with what to them regarding my absence for a few days. Any suggestions?

I've been thinking about this alot too, I've got adult kids from 24 to 34 and they're no dummies. I'm sure dad getting a dick implant is not on their radar, but they'll wonder what's going on.

I've decided just to tell them I'm having some plumbing issues addressed, those not uncommon to a man my age and leave it at that. I don't want them to think it's cancer or something to worry about, but I also don't want them to question me much. The girls will leave it alone, the boys may ask a little more, but if I feel compelled to tell anyone, it would be my boys. I'd want them to know there are options if the same thing happens to them later in their lives.

I had my implant 13th December and was held in hospital for 3 or 4 days. I told my mum and in laws as we were hosting for Xmas and I know its embarrassing and awkward but so I re arranging and being couch ridden for X amount of time post op. I just told people and thought what the hell.... turned into a good conversation topic and banta..

Everyone's differant though but maybe just chuck the truth out the and let the chips fall where they may...

Congratulations! I just told people it was a hernia could have said mens issues but went with the hernia. I didn’t want to talk about the procedure with everyone. Good luck with your procedure.

The problem I have is that I have Kaiser insurance, which covers hernias and implants, but I don't have faith in the Kaiser doc I spoke to regarding the implant. My son had a Kaiser hernia repair when he was still at home, so it'd be a little strange for me to say I'm flying to Houston to pay out of pocket for a hernia repair he's already had with Kaiser at home. So, my story is going to be that I wanted to find the best doc to address my plumbing issue, even if it was outside of Kaiser.

I'm certain I'm overthinking this, but I also don't want to explain to them that I'm getting a pump up penis and then have them send words of condolence to my wife (their mom). ;)

I get it it’s a tricky story and I like you don’t want all the questions about my penis from workers at my shop and family. They already wonder how come I went three hrs away for hernia surgery. Just told them I did my research and this was the closest dr I trust. If they knew it would be congratulations they would send your wife. Good luck with your surgery.

I'm guessing Dr. Clavell? If so, He was my surgeon and I'm now 13 days post op and doing GREAT! If you'd care to chat, please feel free to PM. Best wishes.

I struggled with this too. Eventually, I brought both my sons (ages 34 and 31) in on a zoom call. I said "look, you guys are grown men and so I'm going to treat you like grown men and tell you what's going on". And I told them. Want to know how they responded?

Like grown men.

Great guess! Especially since it's in my signature. ;)

I've been following your progress, I'm the guy buying Clavell a bottle of wine if he can guarantee me your recovery.
