Can't make a decision

Postby vro123 » Tue Nov 06, 2012 10:39 pm

I haven't decided to get an implant yet although the Urologist, I think, is leaning that way. Is it true they only last an average of seven years? Using Edex now, but will probably switch since I'm getting some pain. Used pills, but caused high heart rate 10 minutes after taking them. Also used Muse, but that caused extreme pain and curvature just behind the head. How much time off work do I need to take? I'm in a tough spot since I've had four surgeries since 2008. With the TURP I had in 2008, i was supposed to be out 3 weeks but that turned into 2 months due to bleeding (coumadin, which i'm not taking now). I guess i'm just unsure what to do.

My first implant was an AMS700CX it was implanted 03/07/1995 and lasted until 05/12/2012. My second implant is An AMS700LGX.surgery was 09/12/2012. Not too worried about this one failing

Back to urologist for me at 2 weeks (11/21), could have gotten permission to go back to work a little earlier but since i have medical leave I decided to wait until after first followup. Alternate urologist would have had me in at one week. THings can go well and rapidly. Be warned however that some people don't fare as well. Good luck and hopefully good information for the decision is ultimately yours.

My doc told me that the newer models are highly durable. He figures that one used twice a week could last 10 to 15 years without a problem, with some only needing the pump to be replaced, which he says is fairly easy to do. He has several patients going on their 10th year with even the older models

55 years old. ED since 2002 total venous leakage after penile fracture. Tried all the pills and injections all failed to help. Some success with VED, but felt too unnatural to both of us, seldom used. Implanted 06/21/12. Trying to wear IT out.

I had surgery on Thursday and was back at work (carrying a 40 pound backpack) on the next Tuesday. I didn't ask the doc. LOL

69 YO with a venous leak since puberty, made worse by meds & diabetes. Tried pills, a VED, and injections before my AMS 700LGX was implanted 3-17-2011. A life changing event!
