I've had ED most of my life, since I was a teen certainly. Not much has worked for me. I recently was turned onto injections of Trimix, and the resulting erection, for me, was life changing. I've never in my life really understood what it feels like to feel "like a man". I see other men get excited, and get an erection, and "go for it" sexually, as if it were as natural and easy as breathing. For me, I can be horny as all hell and have a naked beautiful woman in front of me and ready to go... however my penis will be completely flaccid. It's just very emasculating. When they injected me with Trimix, I had an actual "firm as hell" erection for the first time in my life, and also for the first time, I felt complete. I felt like man should feel. It's all I want.

All that being said, I realize that for some, the Trimix will stop working at some point. And when that happens, it seems as if an implant is the only other option.

Implants scare me. As I said, that feeling of blood rushing to my penis and making me engorged is what felt so damn good to me. But what if that part of the equation was gone? What if I had an erection, but there was no feeling of "fullness" or swelling?

That's my question. What does it feel like? Do you still get the excitement of an erection? Is there a feeling of fullness still, or does it feel... fake? Do you still orgasm and does it feel similar? Have you noticed that anything about your sex life feels better or improves as a result? Do you feel satisfied with your sex life, or is the erection really mostly for your spouse?

I hope these questions don't insult anyone. It's just an extreme and irreversible (to my knowledge) way to go, so I'd like to understand it better before I get to the point where I need to consider it.

I think one way of looking at it is that it feels better than impotence. If you can't get and stay hard now, a dick with an implant is better than the alternative.

I'd suggest just keep reading the forum and take note of how many "I wish i had done it sooner" posts you'll find. Keep in mind also that the vast majority of guys who have it done don't participate on franktalk. But several studies have shown, as i'm sure you're well aware, that there is over a 90% satisfaction rate. That's a pretty good stat. I doubt that 90%+ men would not rate it as satisfactory (or better) if all they had to show for their efforts were just an inflatable dildo. Many guys talk about they are harder than they EVER were, that the promised ability to feel everything and have orgasms was just as advertised, and that their partner satisfaction rate was very high. For most guys it seems that they have a new lease on life.

I'm just 2 weeks postop, but i can assure you, i'm very optimistic!

Just for conversations sake. Lets just think for a moment about the feeling that you desire. I gather that you're thinking the rush of blood is causing the feeling. Just for a minute lets think about it. What if your penile tissue is making that feeling because its being squeezed by the retention of the increased blood flow. If you can accept that the implant provides a very similar sensation to your penile tissue. All you need to do is add your mental arousal. Think the process through & I think you'll decide that as long as your mind is excited then you're going to be as close to that feeling as you can get.
I'm not trashing injections. For some men they get quite a few years of excellent service from them. But, occasionally scar tissue starts to form very quickly. Peyronies is a real possibility. I suggest that if you do proceed with injections that you diligently watch for lumps or nodules forming.
Please keep researching implants because the chance of you proceeding to an implant is very high.

toddhd- My implant feels very natural. Once it's inflated the feeling of a full erection is much like pre-ED. I have the same sensations and orgasm as easily. I do feel that rush of excitement in my penis when we're getting warmed up. I still wake up some mornings feeling like I have morning wood. The implant only replaces the tissue responsible to maintain erections and all the rest of your penis remains intact.
If Trimix works for you, go for it. Yes, it may lose its effect sometime down the road. You may have to increase the dose to make it work. Many guys have success with it for years.
I will say my implant was for both my wife and me. I have always had a high libido, but she is much younger. Can't keep a pretty lady wanting.

Yours is a new take on a question asked many many times. But your new approach shows insight and sensitivity.

My history is not unlike yours, but in my youth I was able to achieve erections easily (though by the time I was old enough to get a partner, ED had progressed to the point I rarely gave a full and adequate sexual experience to my partner. So, I understand the emasculated feeling.

With an implant, the feeling of blood pulsing and rushing into my penis is gone. But the feeling of fullness and stretching is quite as strong as it ever was, even in my erectile heyday. Yep, my implant feels "firm as hell" and full.

The spontaneity of my erection coming by itself, of course, is gone. Once when a girlfriend woke me from a deep sleep with fellatio I found myself erect and in her mouth when I woke up. (It is a GREAT way to awaken!) That cannot happen with an implant unless I went to sleep inflated.

The excitment of an erection (for me) was always tied to the urgency of "quick, before it melts!" to get penetration before the erection would collapse. "Use it or lose it." was a window of opportunity that was only a minute or two (or less than a minute sometimes).

My orgasms are exactly the same as they were before with one exception. The pulses/spasms of ejaculation were limited; when my natural erection began to fade I could not continue thrusting so the number of pulses of ejaculation quickly stopped. With the implant, I can continue thrusting and that continued stimulation allows more spasms/pulses of semen. That is a great improvement in performance and sensation from before my implant.

My current girlfriend (widowed) is not highly experienced, having had sex only with her husband and me, but she is quite enthusiastic and supportive. Our sex life is better than it ever could be without a reliable erection on my part.

I decided to get the implant when I did not have a girlfriend/lover. I hoped that I would be able to have penetrative sex (coitus) with a lover again after implant, though sex by fellatio and cunnilingus was still possible and satisfying. But I would be happy with my erection whether it ever got into another vagina or not. The feeling of being masculine is good. The weight of an erection out front is a boost to my ego, if nothing else.

The satisfaction and orgasms of my lover is at least as important to me as my own. So, even if I did not experience an improvement in my sexual satisfaction I am glad I got the implant.

There was a time I wondered if I were given the chance to have a penis capable of giving orgasms to my lovers at the cost of never having another orgasm of my own, I would have made the trade - perhaps to my later regret, but that was my thought process. There was a period of time in the months after implant when I was anorgasmic. It bothered my lover more than it did me. Of course, I knew I would orgasm eventually, maybe the next time, but she REALLY likes the validation that my ejaculation provides. There is a medical study that attempted to measure that and found a positive correlation..

There is a substantial difference, though, with orgasm by coitus and I find it better than fellatio or masturbation. My lover (by her testimony) prefers coital/vaginal orgasms to clitoral/cunnilingual orgasms but enjoys both (I habitually prepare her vagina by ensuring her vaginal lubrication is primed-that, by giving her orgasms clitorally.) But she does much prefer the coital activity. I have read somewhere that "An orgasm with a full vagina is far better than an orgasm without."

So, yes, my implant is for her. And for me.

Buried in my long answer is some hints that I will now write explicitely.

If you are hypersensitive to "fakeness" you will likel feel like you have a dildo in your dick. For most men, that feeling never happens or goes away over a short period of time. When I am not inflated, I can feel the deflated implant tubes, wrinkles and folds, but those go completely away upon even partial inflation. The tubing that connects the implant tubes to the pump and the pump to the reservoir are palpable in any state of erection, but you do have to feel for them. Same for the pump itself. In fact, the bulge of the pump bulb is readily apparant if I am pants-less and wearing form-fitting underwear.

None of that would deter me in the slightest, from getting an implant or from approaching a woman for sex.

Memory is a funny thing. I’ve always taken a great deal of pride in being able to remember the most arcane details of an event. Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s wishful thinking, maybe I was so disgusted with ED I’ve somehow blocked things.

For the life of me I can’t say that I notice any difference between pre-implant me and post-implant me. Oh sure, if I dig around I can find tubing and pump. The cylinders when deflated are a little stiffer than my original equipment was. Basically, that means I have 5 1/2 soft instead of 3 soft. That doesn’t bother me at all.

I don’t get any real arterial throbbing when erect. Of course as bad as my VL was I didn’t see much throbbing in the bad old days.

I still get some kind of flow to the penis when sexually aroused. It might not be going to the erectile bodies but yeah, I still have a sense that something’s going on. All I need to do is pump up and I feel the same sort of satisfying squeeze I did with a regular hard-on.

Bottom line: if you’ve gotten to the point where an implant is a viable option, don’t fear it. Or maybe go ahead and worry so you’ll be pleasantly surprised. To me it has been the best, most realistic feeling path to the high quality erections other guys allegedly got but I never did.

Maybe I’m the only one but I enjoy the pressure while I pump up. It’s the closest thing to getting an actual erection and feels similar. I look forward to pumping every morning and every evening. It took 6-7 months to feel totally normal. But man is it AWSOME! Like others have said. Shots can last for many years but they didn’t for me. When it’s time it’s time!
