I will fully update and journal and experience!
My story:
(1987) I was 16 years old and playing in a high school football game.
I was running the ball and was hurdling a downed defender and his knee came up and hit me in the groin just as I was being tackled from behind.
Which resulted in my penis being crushed at the base between my cup and my body.
I knew immediately I was hurt bad. The pain was tremendous.
I did what the football players at my school were expected to do. I walked it off. By the time I got home and got ice on it....there was substantial swelling and bruising.
My dad wasn't around and I was too embarrassed to tell my mom so I just figured it would heal.
After the bruising and swelling subsided....I was mortified to find that my erections were weak and floppy at the base.
I pretty much just accepted that I'd probably never have a sex life so I did my very best not to think about sex and rarely masturbated. When I did masturbate...it just served as a reminder that I was damaged.
I became a personal trainer and lifted weights a ton and that was my whole life.
I dated but nothing serious until I was 24.
I met a girl who was super understanding and supportive and we eventually married.
With a lot of foreplay I was able to get erect enough to have penetrative sex but I would usually lose my weak erection before finishing.
I went and saw a urologist who prescribed Caverject. I use it a couple times and was extremely pleased with the quality of erection I had...but it was a total mood killer for me to have to inject a needle in my penis.
The urologist suggested a penile implant would be the best option at that point if I wasn't happy with the injections. (pre viagra/cialis days)
I was implanted with a AMS 700 at 24 years old.
After healing I couldn't have been happier.
Rock hard perfect erections on demand were a dream!
I did unfortunately lose about an inch from Caverject erection size of 8" to my implanted size of 7". Girth stayed the same at 6".
I was definitely undersized when implanted. The ends of my implant are at least a half to 3/4 inches away from my glans.
But something else happened that was also unexpected....and amazing!
I began to get more and more natural erections.
It seemed that now that my penis was actually getting used...blood flow was being either developed or rerouted and I was getting regular natural erections.
My then wife developed some serious mental illness for which she refused to get treatment for a we divorced a few years after I got the implant.
I didn't date at all and just focused on raising my son who I had custody of.
I did continue to masturbate often without inflating.
A couple years past and I, on a whim decided to attempt to inflate my implant and found that it was no longer functioning.
My erections without inflating were still a decent quality but obviously with a useless implant they were not a firm as a natural and floppy at the base.
My implant lasted somewhere between 4 to 6 years before it malfunctioned.
I stayed single until just a couple years ago and at age 47, I met and married my current wife.
I am in extremely good shape and work out daily.
My wife is 10 years younger than me and still child bearing age.
I explained to her early on into our dating my whole story and that I was confident I would be able to have sex even with a malfunctioning implant.
Although it likely wouldn't be as hard and last as long as what she was probably used to with her previous partners.
She was completely fine with it and totally understanding.
We have a very active, happy and satisfying sex life. ( 2 to 3 times a week) Not once during our relationship so far have I ever not been able to perform enough to penetrate her and finish. Sometimes a lot of foreplay is required...which is frustrating to a degree but she is patient. It also helps that I am extremely attracted to my wife and I am sure my dedication to my fitness has helped as well.
My natural erections would be rated at a 7.
They aren't as firm, last a long and are somewhat floppy....but I get them consistently and dependably.
It just takes work to get them and they don't last as long as I'd like....and due to the floppiness....kinda limited on positions.
The original plan my wife and I had was we would continue as is until my natural erections were no longer usable.
But she has started to have side effects from her IUD and asked me to get a vasectomy which of course I told her I would be happy to.
Once we began talking and researching the vasectomy....and the downtime for intimacy and my weightlifting....
I thought maybe now would be an ideal time to get my implant replaced.
Although I am capable of an erection good enough for sex....I don't want to be just good enough anymore.
I did a ton of research looking for the best of the best in my area (Midwest) and feel extremely fortunate to have found Dr. Lawrence Levine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
We met with him last month and I couldn't be more impressed!
He was extremely personable, patient with all of our questions and reassuring.
I explained that my biggest concern was I wanted to maintain as much of the natural erections possible. He, of course explained that he couldn't guarantee that but did say that the plan was just to removed the old implant, replace it with the new one and only a small degree of dilation was needed at the end.
That the blood flow and healthy tissue wouldn't be affected.
That pleased me greatly as I do know that my wife does take great satisfaction in feeling me get erect...and I pray that is preserved as much as possible.
I am also hoping to gain some missing size back with a better and more appropriate larger size.
I made the decision to go forward because I trust Dr. Levine and I would like the best quality erection possible.
So I am getting implanted via the penoscrotal route as well as a vasectomy on 2/20/23 with Dr. Levine.
I am slightly nervous but endlessly optimistic everything will go great.
For those that have had revisions....how did they go for you?
Was your recovery faster or the same.
Did you lose or gain any size?
If you has any natural engorgement prior to your revision....did you maintain it?
If you made it all the way down here....
thank you so very for taking the time to read my story!
Wish me luck please!
