Coloplast Titan XL first activation today
Posted: Fri Mar 24, 2023 11:16 pm
I hope this might assist anyone approaching activation of a Coloplast. Dr. Clavell has an excellent video on first activation for ams and for Coloplast. I have a Coloplast. As Dr. Clavell said---The Coloplast makes no noise when inflating or deflating. I was expecting a click until viewing that. I recommend that video for anyone activating.
This is exactly six weeks post op. I have followed Surgeon's instructions. The spirit of them anyway. Primarily to not worry and just leave it alone until six weeks. The process was:
Urine Sample
Bladder Ultrasound to ensure empty bladder
Deflation:
Using the keychain model gave a verbal explanation of how it works and what he was going to do
I have been pretty erect for the past six weeks, and I had tried but failed to reduce that some during last two weeks.
He examined the scrotum and had difficulty finding the deflate button. Several attempts and he deflated me somewhat with a couple of tries. He told me that I appeared to be still swollen in the scrotum and that was making it difficult to deflate. However, whatever he did made the pump bulb easier to press.
Inflation
He explained the inflate process and demonstrated it followed by me doing it but did not fully inflate since I knew how it worked.
He assured me everything was working correctly, cleared me for sex and advised that I will be a huge fan shortly. (I already am actually.)
He summarized by telling me to keep at deflating, inflating and it would get much easier.
Cycling
Surgeon emphasized how it was important, even critical to cycle the implant multiple times a day. He is never thorough in explaining why for his recommendations, but I knew enough about cycling and already had plans to do it.
Final instructions --Asked me to make a future appointment in case I need it and just cancel if I don't need further assistance. I can do whatever I want with it. No restrictions. As we are going on a cruise in a couple weeks, that will be another honeymoon. No big plans other than that.
There was mild discomfort, but no pain. Discomfort was from seeking and pressing the deflate button with the swelling still affecting the scrotum. No discomfort from pressing the pump. He did explain that the pump bulb captures a small amount of saline and the squeeze of the bulb and the holding for a second or two is what fills the cylinders. I had thought it was a siphoning operation.
Their office staff even provided a lunch for me after the appointment. Pork Tamales. It is San Antonio, you know. Hope your activation goes smoothly with no hiccups.
Update 1- 3/25 -- This morning deflated successfully for first time. I was always a grower, now a shower so had no idea what to expect. The length shortened as expected, trying to retract upward the way it was pre-surgery. However the implanted cylinders and tubes prevent most of that retraction leaving about 4-5 inches exposed but softer than the semi erection during recovery. Girth didn't change much if any. Unit is more flexible but still somewhat stiff due to implanted cylinders. Now on to cycling couple times a day. It was a relief to actually see the deflation happen.
Update 2- 3/25--This afternoon and evening I have been inflating in increments of 10-20 pumps at a time. Right now I seem to be stuck at 6.2 L x 6.0 C feels about where I was after surgery. Probably not using the pump correctly but at least it is becoming erect after being deflated. Wife says it will do, promising lots of fun things tonight, but really there is no rush. I will just keep pumping every hour or so leaving it up overnight probably. I use my two middle finger pads and the heel of my hand while my non=-dominant hand stabilizes the tubes and sack. Suggestions welcome.
Update 3- 3/26--Did not try to deflate last night. Still pumping. Pump becoming easier to press. Began wearing nitrile gloves for better grip. Still using two center fingers and heel of hand on dominant side for pump and left arm is stabilizing and guarding the vulnerable areas. I am definitely harder and pointing more toward 3pm rather than 5pm this morning. Girth and length have no measurable change. I am uniformly girth all up and down even at the base. I will probably keep doing this until I reach max leave it a while then deflate and start over a few hours later. That should be tomorrow. Did not attempt sex last night. It was probably hard enough, but a lot going on in the house so another day won't hurt us. This evening bulb became too difficult to squeeze so I called that max inflation and left it at that. No discomfort no pain. Leaving it where it is till tomorrow.
Update 4- 3/27--Did some pumping off and on all day. Felt the bulb give but penis does not seem larger as I expected. Hardness was good all day, yet at 8 pm it seems less hard than today with more pumping. It is difficult to pump without holding or touching the deflate part of the pump. I am sure I am still just partially filled similar to post op condition. Have PT in the morning so will probably deflate prior to leaving the house. More tomorrow. I will start a daily journal on this journey April 1.
Update 5- 3/28--.Finally got to what I thought was max at 170 pumps. Left it that way all night.
Update 6- 3/29 --Deflated completely at 5 am, then added two pumps. Resumed cycling on return home. Used full compression with heel of hand and two fingers or a knuckle. Extended time of holding pump down and extended time between pumps. Results were:
0 pumps--4.2 inches long/6.0 C
10 pumps-- 5.1/6.0
20 pumps-- 5.6/6.1
25 pumps-- 5.6/6.2
30 -40 same. Sitting at 40 now. Fairly hard, maybe 60% Will max out later today and report.
