I live in south florida and travelling would be very inconvenient. If I were to do this someday, itd have to be here.
30k seems very high. The problem here is would insurance cover this for someone that pills stopped working but haven't used injectables yet? What if I don't a venous leak? which I don't know as I never had the test done out of fear of priapism, same reason why I haven't used the injectable.
Also how can you provide proof to insurance that pills no longer work? You would need your urologist note or something, they may not want to write that.
basically the best way to get approved is to have documentation that you have a venous leak
It seem insurance will always find a way to not approve something as expensive as this.
Now, that sucks, then you have to finance, is like buying a new car.

These are questions that Dr Perito’s office can likely help you with. The administrative staff in a urological surgeon’s office has the most skill and experience with navigating insurance bureaucracy.
Best thing you can do is make a consultation appointment when you think you are close to ready for implant. Ask them to sort out the pre approval.

Perito is charging more than the "going rate" which is around $20k out of pocket to the patient.
Medicare does not require proof of "medical necessity"{ to cover the procedure. Private insurers vary in whether they require proof of medical necessity or not.
When you find the surgeon that you want to work with, his/her office will help you deal with your insurance company.
Good luck!

Perito's pricing seems to be in-line with Eid. You are dealing with an established top tier surgeon in an expensive city. The top younger surgeons generally charge less.
Just curious why isn't travel an option?

This is $30k for an infrapubic installation that he touts as so great because he can do it in only 15 minutes?
What does a 'basic' package mean? No man wants to come out of surgery with a basic package. I'm trying to think of what that even means.

I would suggest going to burrito or Dr cordone in Miami and be evaluated. They submit the justification to the insurance company. In my case both Perrito and Cordon were able to get it approved by my insurance carrier. I ultimately chose to go with Dr Cordone over Perrito but that's a personal choice. The key is the evaluation first.

Contact Dr. Beilan in Clearwater. Fine young urologist that probably does over 200 implants per year. He was referred to me and did my implant in February. Everything has been super. Studied with some of the best in the field at Baylor University in Texas. Also, serves on the board of urology at USF.

I’m intrigued also by what options might be available beyond the basic package also.
Chrome?
Power steering?
