Hey guys,

I hate to ask questions about the possible negative aspects of the implant-

I was finally able to see a urologist in my country (I'm not in the US) and he said I'm too young for injections and too young for an implant (I'm 30). Leaving me with no solutions. He said that "If there are any complications or if the device gets infected and needs to be removed, you will never get an erection or have sex again." This Dr also said that they have limited or no access to malleable implants for post-infection re-implantation.

However, when I had a meeting with Clavell, he said that he has never met anyone that he has not been able to implant.

So I am now confused as to how serious the risks are if there is an infection. Is there actually a chance of "never getting an erection again"?

While it is true that the operation to place an implant destroys or impairs (to nearly 100% the ability to get a natural erection) erectile function, the implant does replace a man's failed ability remarkably well. If a man's erectile ability is useless and has no possibility of "cure" there is nothing to lose by getting an implant.

I compare it to a man who can run a 10K race in 6 hours because of bad feet, but if he amputates his feet to get prosthetics, can run 10k in 45 minutes or less (getting close to world record times). But if the prosthetic fails, he is in a wheelchair until the prosthetic is replaced. The concept applies to penis as well as it does to feet.

Risk of infection is nil with some surgeons, higher with others. The more experience a surgeon has and the more sophisticated the surgical venue is, the lower the risk. Care after the surgery is also a major factor in ost-op infections.

The point of my first paragraph, however, is that if you have no erectile function now and no hope of getting something to work in the future (constriction rings, vacuum erection device, pills, suppositories or injections or some other technology that may come in the future), there is essentially no downside to getting an implant now.

As far as your country's medical care not having malleables or revisions possible, I would suggest searching harder. It is difficult to believe a medical care system that can install an inflatable not having malleables also (simpler to implant by far) or the ability to do a revision.

If you have the resources to have your surgery with a high volume implant surgeon do so. Your local surgeon saying it’s a bad idea for you to get an implant really means it’s a bad idea for you to get an implant from him.

There are LOTS of younger guys who need an implant and get one. The chance that something will go catastrophically wrong leaving you unable to have sex is exceptionally small. The chance you won’t be able to have sex because this doc won’t give you access to shots or an implant is certain.

Time to seek out a different doc. Either locally or outside your country.

A chance of game over is extremely low. About like your chance of not waking up tomorrow.

The thing is not all doctors do replacement surgery. My local doctors do not. If infection or a bad outcome (as the lady in the business office told me many men had such bad results and ended up having the device removed) it is one and done. Things very not only from country to country but from area to area. In the US insurance is controlled by each state. So not all companies sell insurance in every state.

I always recommend men start locally to look for a very good doctor. I would check around for the best doctor in your area to get a second opinion. Could be there is a progression of treatments that have to be done first. It could also be your doctors lack of interest in treating men with ED. Or even control of the health care system by insurance or the government. There are other influences such as religious belief. Finding the best doctor you can and making a plan is the best thing you can do. If you do not have a very good doctor local many of the really good doctors have office visits via computer camera. I don't know how that would work to get you a script for injections though. Good luck

99% of people who get an implant will never be able to get a natural erection again. On the other side of that, implants are the final solution. There is no going back, there is no other solution that is still working if you're considering an implant (or that's how it should be.) That said being extremely young you should expect to replace your implant at some point they last as long as they last based on your use and how hard you are on them and just luck. There are guys on here who have had three plus implants and guys on here who are 20 years on one.

It's been difficult finding a solution and I feel as though life is passing me by. I am trying to not make a quick decision with getting implanted- but right now, it seems like the most attractive option.

What kind of shitty doctor is he? There is no "too young in a disease". Its like a heart surgeon saying a 30 year old guy : we can't replace your heart valve with a prosthetic because you are too young and we do that with older men. The normal route is pills-injections-implant no matter the age. I'm guessing you live in Europe because there are not many implant doctors here: only few in Germany,Belgium and Spain from what I have read.

I am also too young but one day I will have the implant and feel encouraged by the words of Dr.Clavell that he has never seen a man not get another implant.

The overwhelming majority of guys here would tell you that, as the member above posted”, that he is “one shitty doctor”. Look, my own brother is a doctor here in the US. He was remarkably ignorant on the subject of implants. (he does family practice. not a urologist). Point is that medical professionals don’t/can’t know everything.

But a lot of these guys are too vain or ego-sensitive to actually admit they don’t know something.

Fact is, Dr. Perito has implanted guys as young as 19. Plenty of guys in this forum in their 30s. I’m personally in contact with a 36 year old guy i met on this forum who is leaving his home country in 2 months to be implanted by Dr. Hakky.

And, speaking from personal experience, when Dr. Clavell tells you something, you can trust it.

He did my implant 3 months ago, and i’m very pleased.

Ignore that doctor who basically is ruining your opportunity to have a great sex life with his own ignorance. The risks he speaks of are minimal with a great surgeon. You’ll find those surgeons names appearing time and again if you will take the time to read past posts.

I understand your dilemma but dont think you are fully informed and/or your doctor is not fully informed.
Yes you can get implanted at 30yrs old but I would not recommend it yet because you havent tried any other options. Implanted should be your choice only when all other options have failed.

Seek out another urologist and get a second opinion preferably one with implant experience, also many urologist offer telemedicine appointments over your computer that can provide you guidance without actually having to see you in his office. Seek one out closer to you or select on in the US, keep in mind your just getting a consult doesnt meant your committing to anything. Good luck and dont settle for the first answer you get if it doesnt resolve your concerns.

May I ask since how long you have had ED

Have you tried oral pills or injections
