Questions about Type 2 Diabetes with Implant

I have been struggling with ED for over 10 years due to Type 2 diabetes. I tried using pills - but they were always hit and miss. Most recently, I started using trimix injections - and although they work well, I hate having to give myself a shot. Im really leaning towards an implant but don’t know how the healing process would be due to diabetes.

If you are diabetic and have an implant, can you share your experience? What was your healing like? Did insurance cover the cost or did you have to pay out of pocket?

I'm not a diabetic but know one. All I'm aware of is they want your A1C at a certain level. If your sugar numbers have been bouncing around they don't like that either. Otherwise, I don't think healing would be much different than any other person. Just the usual keeping it clean and following doctor orders.

I am type 2 since 2004, very well controlled. I had no issues getting the implant and healed just fine. Of course, being well controlled I have neve experienced any issues with healing. Insurance did cover.

The guidelines call an A1c at 7 or under as considered under control. At 7 or under you shouldn't have any trouble getting an implant. Mine, at 6.4 didn't get more than a thats great response from his staff. Recovery will vary by each individual.
I do recall a member that had his done with an A1c of 8. His recovery was a little on the hard side but it could of just been a coincidence. Please remember that high blood sugar levels usually means slower healing. Try your best to get into the 6's.
At 7, my dr wants you to be really attentive to your glucose for the few days prior to sugery.

I am a type 2 diabetic. I had surgery with a A1C of 7.5 on 4-18-2023. I have had some issues with recovery because of the pain Management plan was very inadequate. The implant surgery went fine and I have no infection. But swelling was/is severe. Now that I am on a better pain plan I am doing much, much better. The swelling is going down and I am sure that is also helping a lot with feeling better. I am still convinced I made the right decision to get the implant.

My wife was key to helping me get thru all this, if you do not have that support structure get someone to move in with you for about 3 weeks. You will effectively need some one by your side 7 x 24.

I am a type 2 diabetic. A1C was 7 at the time of my surgery, around 10 weeks ago. My incision healed very quickly, but I have had massive amount of swelling and fluid in my testicles. I figured that part is healing very slowly. I haven't been able to cycle or pull down the pump. As a result, my pump and release valve are sitting uncomfortably high.

Also, the "snake eyes" that one gets on the penis head, just went away around a week ago. It hurt pretty bad for around 9 weeks. Just FYI
