I had prostate cancer surgery, an open prostatectomy, 6 years ago. While the surgery was successful and the cancer has not returned, erectile dysfunction has been an issue ever since. We tried pills and injections with limited success, and I was not able to ever feel comfortable doing penile injections, which gave the best results.

At this point we are looking at getting penile implant surgery and have an appointment scheduled in January with an experienced and respected urological surgeon who does about 100 of these procedures a year. I'm joining the board in hopes of gaining more information from member's experiences before taking this big step.

I am 64 years old, married, two adult children and have no other health issues other than post-prostatectomy erectile dysfunction.

Welcome to FT Tim,

Our ED Histories are similar.
I underwent the Coloplast Titan Penile Implant Procedure in December 2007 after developing ED Post-Prostatectomy in 2004.
The Implant completely corrected my ED and restored my sex life and the emotional bond with my wife of 45 years.
December 13th will mark the Fifth Anniversary of my Titan Implant and I can honestly say that I would do it again in
a heart-beat. My wife and I both love it.
Hope this Post has been of some help.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or would just like to talk.
Best of luck,

Bob

Tim, I hope you can receive some info here that can help you decided if you want to go this route. I had my RRP in Dec 09 and got my penile implant (AMS 700LGX) in Jan 2011. A goodly number of the people who visit here have had RP and suffer ED as a result. One issue that soon may get cloudier is insurance coverage. Since you have Ed as a result of PCa the implant would be covered right now as mine was. Since you are 64 this may change but who knows maybe not. It was very nice that mine was covered, I thought. If you have specific questions and you post them here, you are sure to get plenty of answers. If you don't know already, there two popular units you can get. The Coloplast Titan and the AMS 700LGX, both have their points and both seem to work well and usually this decision is left up to the patient.

Hi Tim, welcome aboard....
I would say if you need it go for it..... I myself am 41 and 4mos post op.
My road to recovery has not been as easy as some others, but I can say I would do it again . After almost 4 years of ED playing head games with me now I can feel like a man again. But it is a very personal decision.
I wish you the best in your journey and if there's any questions I can help with, please ask.
Rich.
