how to arrange for someone to sign you out after surgery?

I have to travel to Houston for the surgery by myself and I don't have anyone there who can sign me out and take me to the hotel, something that the surgery center requires before discharging you. An Uber driver will not be accepted. I know a couple of members who hired someone (a nurse in one of the cases) to do this. Has anyone done this? Is there a special service for this?

Have you asked the doctor's office if they can recommend someone? When I had surgery with Dr Eid they recommended a "medical escort" they knew who charged like $120 or something, and she went with me all the way to my hotel room and made sure I got home safe. If your doctor office doesn't have one they can recommend I'd just google "medical escort" for your area.

Houston? Dr. Clavell?

Nobody signed me out to my hotel. I pee’d, indicated i felt fine, and that was it. I was wheelchaired to the foyer and an uber picked me up. Back at the hotel (Westin) 5 minutes later.

Yes, Dr. C. That's good to know. I'll check with his office to see if that's still the procedure.
Thank you!

Drove myself from San Antonio to Houston the day prior to surgery. Uber from hotel to HCA for procedure. Woke up in recovery and held until I urinated. Given informational packet and walked to foyer where I waited for Uber. Spent that night in hotel and drove myself back to San Antonio. Never had anyone with me. Experienced no problems. Good luck.

Most surgery centers want someone with you because the anesthesia can make you suddenly fall asleep up to 8 hours later. It's rare but not something you want to happen if you're on your own.
If you can't find a temp nurse I see a member has offered help. What a great community.
Best of luck.

With all you are going through you still offered to help someone you don't know. You are truly a good person and I thank you for your offer, Entourage, and I wish you well with your new implant. I've been following your journey and I hope all of the issues are resolved soon.

I contacted Dr C's office and they confirmed what ThailandBound and NorCol posted - they will take me to the foyer where I can take a rideshare to the hotel. I can handle the rest.

They are currently scheduling into August but I need to wait until late September to take care of other medical/dental appointments.

As OldGuy said, this is a great community!

It is no trouble for an FT brother. Only we know how much we have gone though. How strong we have to be to go through all. Dr Clavell and team is just amazing. He never forgets to check on me. Every other day he’s texting me and asking for my recovery.
Anything any ft brother hood needs always standing strong behind them.

Allah grant mercy on all of us.
