What should my excuse be for missing work trip?

I scheduled my implant with Dr. Clavell today for August 16th(!) I’m trying to figure out logistics before surgery. I work from home so fortunately I don’t have to worry about showing up to work everyday semi-inflated. However, there’s a good chance I might get called in for a work trip (requires flying) maybe 2-3 weeks after surgery to meet with our teams in person. I definitely do not want to tell anyone on my team why I won’t be able to, but since this is a tight-knit team, I’ll need to have a good excuse for why I can’t go on travel for a period of time (at least 4-6 weeks). They only have this trip when every team member is available so they’ll be particularly interested why I won’t be able to.

Any advice?

My favorite excuses (Pamplona and the ISS) would not work for you because they would require you to have had vacatiion time prior to the surgery. And the $30,000 story is one you expressed no desire to open THAT can of worms.

Good luck, and wishing you a speedy recovery so you don't have to actually fib.

I used the excuse of a cyst on a testicle had to be removed. Most guys will cringe just hearing that.

Just say you had a medical procedure done and are ( regretfully) unable to go. If they get curious about what medical procedure ( it's none of their business and , I think , you don't have to disclose it by law) . Just reply , " Ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies "

But what if, someday in the future, you DO have an appendectomy? Will you cover that up by saying you are getting an implant? What if someone wants to see your scar? Or ask about how your recovery went (in case they are going in for an appendectomy..it is natural to ask someone who had one before)?

"It's personal and I would rather not talk about it." should suffice for most polite people who would respect your boundaries.

For someone who presses me on the issue (with whatever degree of rudeness they employ), a (greater or lesser) pointed, "Why do you want to know?" response might quell their quest for your intimate details.

No problem, Ace.

1. Ge the heavy duty jock from amazon (Goldberg) 2 to a pack. That will hold you wherever you want to be.
2. Even a week after surgery, flying wouldn't have been an isssue for me and I had the regular scrotal surgery.

Clavell is much cleaner with less swelling and bruising. You will probably be trying to get laid while out of town to show off. Just kidding, but it is possible, and you will have zero problem including TSA. Probably you won't have to go anyway, so don't even worry about it. No one will know unless you tell them. You will get tired of the bulge lookers--all female. You know, looking good dude, here's my number all that. But you can fend them off.

Be proud and be a stand up guy. If you are a grower now, you will be self-conscious, no doubt as you will be a partially inflated shower. But after you get used to everyone knowing your anatomy, no problem.

I like that reply.

With family members I'll have to be more specific, because I live with two of them and I'll depend on some others to help with recovery.

I'm going to say I'm having a varicocele removed. Dr. Levine thought that was perfect cover
