Surgery caused deformation - penis pointing sideways

Postby JakOBson » Fri Aug 25, 2023 4:04 pm

Fellow implanters and those who are still pondering,

Soon is a full month since my Coloplast surgery, this is how it went so far and what are my worries.

It was unexpectedly rough, even on painkillers.

Even simple upright sitting on the office chair was a struggle.

The pain started declining only last week.

Cycling so far done only twice (third and fourth week) because it felt too sore. Both times it was a painful exercise. Especially deflation, which I failed to get done by myself so had to see the doctor for that. Waiting time of days in an erected state until visit to the doctor was literally a torture.

The biggest worry is the change in shape of the penis. From a perfectly straight pre-op it changed to strongly bent to the left due to prominent dog ears at 1/3 from the base. This is in flacid state.

When pumped though it looks almost straight and nicely upright, so no complaints there.

But flacid, strongly pointing out to the left from part way, it is nothing short of disgusting. Even visible size increase in flacid state (I was a prominent grower) does no visually compensate for that.

Naturally, this worries me a lot and I complained to the surgeon.

His reply that with passage of time it should straighten, did not sound convincing because thinking logically if the tube is bent into a dog ear, the material is already set in that position, so there's no return back, is there?

Or am I being paranoid?

Anyone of you experienced similar problem? Namely, straight before, curved post-op due to the dog ear, strongly facing sideways, but then with time and cycling straightened back to normal?

Thanks in advance!

Inflate just enough to eliminate the dog ears then tuck that to the left and enjoy. I’m very active and when I golf I tuck that thing to the right and just enough to have a full shaft but still pliable enough to be tucked. I’m proud of my size. I don’t walk around erect but too flaccid is what’s causing the dog ears. Welcome to your new life as a shower not a grower.

Welcome to the brotherhood. I did a lot of reading on this site and found that some men have really easy recoveries and others like yours. There are men that took months to be able to cycle. Some doctors even make men wait 8 weeks partially inflated until activation. So just understand that men and doctors are different. And this is not a race but just do the best you can to follow your doctors instructions.

For men who have curvature or other deformities the inflatable penile implant is great for correcting this. You can do a little reading and searching for information on it if you like. So you should be fine once you are up and cycling regularly. And I read enough that I decided not to judge the outcome until 1 year post op. I did a lot of cycling as I had size loss from ED and I had gains out past 1 year.

Lots of men have WTF did I do to myself feelings post op. I had them and knew about them and they still got to me. This takes a bit of time. Not days but months or even a year in some cases. So just do what you can and keep after it and don't give up. Cycling is the work you will need to do when you can. And when you can do the cycling do it every day. It is the work that will pay off the most in the end.

Many thanks for your kind words of support!

I think an important point was missed though: I did NOT have curvature prior to implant, but now I got it as an outcome of the surgery.

So, basically, in that particular department I go things worse than before.

So I am trying to see (1) if anyone else had this and - most important - (2) if this gets fixed by cycling and time, or should I already foresee another surgical intervention ahead.

As I said implants straighten curvatures. That is what they do. Men with bad curvatures get implants to straighten them. I would not be worried about this and just work on recovery and getting to the point of cycling and give it time. A reoperation is in most cases not done until 6 months post op. Unless there is infection. Just give it some time and a good month or two of daily cycling. Of course talk to your doctor about it as I am not a doctor. I have learned that an implant is different and not to worry about stuff that is not painful or keeps the device from working to have sex. That is the main thing to be able to have pain free sex on demand without the worry of the erection failing.
