Strictly from cycling for aprox 1 year? I feel like I’ve made a huge, irreversible mistake
No size loss is normal. But this advice comes with several caveats.
1) How much inflation did your surgeon leave you at? Very few surgeons leave a patient more than 80% inflated. Some at less than 30%. There are a number of medical reasons for this and you should ask your surgeon about it.
2) What is your baseline measurement? If you compare to your erections of your youth, you are comparing apples to oranges. The relevant comparison is what your erection was immediately before the surgery. (Provided you were able to get one. Years of ED can shrink a man's dimensions. The surgeon may not be able to stretch you out to recover that shrinkage.)
3) What is your datum point you are measuring from? The term "Bone Pressed Length" (BPL) is important. You press your measuring tool into the fleshy fat pad covering your pubic bone. If that pad is swollen (as is often the case after surgery) that swelling will subtract from your measured length.
4) About your baseline measurement. If you are depending on your memory....don't
5) Glans engorgement will add a bit of length and this soon after surgery you may not be getting aroused enough to have that "boost" in length.
Like you, I used a VED pre-op and observed that, inside the vacuum chamber, I was about 3/4" longer than my best natural (chemically enhanced) pre-op erection. The VED pulls your tissues more forward than natural. Don't expect an implant-supported erection to do that. Your natural erection didn't, either.
Back to my initial sentence. The implant acts exactly as your corpus cavernosum and tunica albuginea did to support your erection. Essentially the implant forces your tunica to stand up. Since the tunica is tough, fibrous tissue, it will not stretch elastically. If it did, natural erections would not be rigid. Trying to force the tunica longer is asking for more stress (and potential for tearing). If your surgeon measured the inside of your tunica correctly and had the confidence to implant the device that fit that measurement you should have no size loss (when fully healed and fully pumped to 100%). Be patient.
