Must - knows/do-s before and after operation?

Postby tonydante » Mon Nov 27, 2023 4:08 pm

As I have mentioned in my posts before, I am 21, turning 22 and February have basically had lifelong erectile dysfunction with nothing working - I am sadly still a virgin.

I have tried all types of meds and they don't work effectively as well. I have no desire to try injections. Honestly, ED has severely ruined my life in the last 3-4 years and it's currently ruining my university years. I am fed up and ready to get implanted as soon as possible.

I have already spoken to Ralph in England and he said he is willing to operate on me. My last obstacle was the cost, but my parents can fortunately cover it(for which I am extremely grateful and realise how lucky I am.)

Since I am uninformed and don't know where to find my information - what should I know before the operation and how can I prepare before it? And afterwards? How does the recovery process go? I know I should use a pump for several months after that to ensure I don't lose size, but is there something else I need to do for my recovery process? Is there a document or something like a checklist where I can read up on it?

I'd appreciate any answers.

I went back and read your story (here if anyone else is curious and doesn't wanna spend time finding it: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=18409&p=167998#p167998)

Cliffs: broke his dick on accident at 12. That and pelvic floor dysfunction plus lots of other serious problems means all sexual experiences have been failures. No treatments, including pills, have worked.

Honestly, your situation for getting here is a rough one, but I think you can be happy now - you are almost there to a solution. An implant will work for you like your dick never has.

About do's before/after, well first realize that I am not a doctor or your doctor so trust them first and not me, but my thoughts are glad you mentioned using a pump after (a VED, right?), and I would add you might as well start using one before also. I'm not positive you need one because your case is an unusual one - you're young and your dick hasn't weakened due to years and years then decades of ED like it might have for many older men. But you also haven't ever really gotten good erections either so you certainly haven't been exercising it. I'd assume right now you probably don't even know your size for sure?

Beyond that, for details about the recovery process, just be patient and you'll be all right. I hear about some surgeons who use a fast recovery, with cycling after a week(s) and sex plus return to full size achieved in a month(s). Mine and others are much slower. For me it was over 2 inches shorter at first and an extremely gradual improvement (felt like only +.2" or so every few weeks or longer) over the span of about 10 or 11 months until I consistently had my original size back or a bit over. Several studies have mentioned months 12-18 also being very successful times for increasing size. Hence, patience.

Also, you will be in pain after the surgery. Because another person just shoved some device directly throughout your dick and balls. It should not surprise anyone that that is incredibly fucking painful. So good luck with the pills they give you or your fortitude, but it will hurt, until it gets better.

For other exercises, here's crazyjoe recommending a Dr. Perito's THE exercise: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18843

I think Joe also created an exercise similar to treating your implanted penis like it's a propeller and to twirl the shaft at a very fast speed. I still do that occasionally, seems helpful.

And here's some research I found on how VEDs work on the first page, with me writing how I got to use one and which ones have worked for me on page 3 starting with "haha, well ty, thought don't ever..." viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18561

Making sure I replied to everything -

About preparing, think I wrote enough. VED before might be good, but beyond that there's no secret pre-surgery super important requirement, at least not to the best of my knowledge.

Afterwords? It'll hurt very bad for a while. Then it gets better. Slowly. Be patient.

Other exercises above, and feel free to make up your own! I'm not sure of any documents or checklists and I wanted to say there might be some but I'm also thinking this whole procedure isn't nearly as difficult or complicated as you think it might be. Your past dick was complicated. Sticking an implant in it will be easy, and it will make your life a whole lot easier too. It has for me.

You've got this.

My advice:

Get comfortable in front of your computer for an entire weekend and binge-read franktalk. Go back a few years. You’ll learn everything you need to know.

And don’t believe you’re going to suffer in recovery. I didn’t. Several other recent contributors report minimal pain. That’s why you need to read about the variety of experiences here on the forum. Personally, i only needed 1 pain pill and a few days of Ibuprofen. Didn’t suffer at all. It’s not a given.

Good Morning Tony
Here in the U.S. a manufacturer's rep often is in the operating room with the surgeon and available by phone to implant recipients post-op. If the U.K. system is similar get to know that person - they're a wealth of knowledgeable help. Use the American idioms 'take it with a grain of salt' as you read of another guy's experience here on FT - and 'don't jump down the rabbit hole' every time someone says it's 'this way or that.' There's really good input here on FT, and sometimes there's not.
Please reinforce for yourself: there is no such thing as a bad question, an embarrassing question, a question that can't / shouldn't be asked. Thru the years just about everything has already been asked - Thailand Bound's rec to binge read will easily prove that.
As you work through your decision you'll have much to share - and there are many who will benefit no matter their ages or circumstances. Pay it forward...

Thanks for chiming in with your answers and advice. I will probably try to book my operation for January, when I have a bit of a break from university. I will buy a VED and read up everything I can find on Franktalk.

I still have some questions - how long does the recovery period last and would I be required to be in bed for it? Also, would it be visible to others that I have just had an implant operation while recovering? I live with my family and don't have my own place - I don't want anyone besides my parents to know about my operation(I have a little brother and a grandma that I live with as well) - so how should I approach this? Should I lie that I've had some type of different operation that I have to recover from? Should I wait until I am back at uni so I can recover alone in my dorm?

I'd appreciate some advice and opinion on these questions as well.

Best regards everyone

Hi Tony -

Recovery should go pretty smoothly. Bed rest is recommended for the first several days. (Remember to ice, ice, ice!)

You don't need to tell people that you've had an implant. If they ask, just say you had a hernia repair. It's a common enough thing and that usually puts and end to the discussion. Also explains why you've got things going on down there.

Good luck to you!
