Heavy weightlifting/mma etc

Hi all

Does anyone have experience with heavy weight lifting/mma or high impact sports after implant surgery?

I used to be a competitive bodybuilder and powerlifter (not anymore but still lift heavy- Squat 200kg plus etc and now do some mma)

Obviously for the first 3-6 months I would take it easy and I have no issue at all lifting much lighter for the rest of my life and perhaps giving up mma grappling if needed to; having a working dick is much more important!

Just wondering what experiences people have who do similar sports

Based on all of my reading, surgeon advice, and what people say here. Heavy lifting is fine. Go slow though and work up to it. Also, there’s a difference between heavy lifting and being a power lifter chalking your hands up and trying to deadlift 700 lbs lol…my recommendation is that if you want your implant to last, don’t do the power lifitng stuff. Lift heavy but keep it slow and controlled. I’m also very into training.

Most surgeons would say you can do MMA, but once again, prob not a good idea if you want things to last. One hard kick to the stomach and your reservoir could be done for. Those MMA kicks are no joke. Same goes for getting accidentally kicked in the dick. People will say cycling is ok, but I would make the same argument for that. By all means you can, but just know it’s going to increase your chances of something failing and going wrong.

I weightlift pretty heavy no problem. You will be fine on that.

As far as MMA goes, sure you can do it. But its probably not a good idea.

Best to bring those questions to your doctor/surgeon. I do know that the first few weeks no heavy lifting is almost every doc's precaution. Start slow and build up. Doing MMA is something I'd give up if it was me. One wrong kick, ouch.
When I was healing about the 5th or 6th week my grandson accidentally headbutted me straight to the tip of my dick. Put me back in my recliner right now and hurt for days.

Lol old guy. I’m imagining how that went down. What are the chances, but I imagine that would hurt like hell lol.

I completely agree with Old Guy. Ask your doctor!

I would think that weight lifting would be okay after a recommended recovery time.

And I agree that both MMA and cycling could result in early failure of the implant.

As I just posted earlier today, it's my understanding that points of connection between parts of the implant are at the greatest risk for failure. So, I would think that hard pressure from a cycling seat and inadvertent blows to the groin might cause damage to some of those connection points.

But, again, ask your doctor.

Sorry but that made me laugh so hard can just imagine how that went down

Thanks for all the replies all, I think I'll definitely give up MMA and lift much lighter for the rest of my life if I end up going down the implant route which is highly likely! I'm at a stage now in my life where I don't need to be lifting super heavy anyway as I'm much smaller and leaner than my powerlifting days (thinking of it, it might be the cause of my ED in the first place!)

What about motorbiking? I motorbike to work and ride for fun on weekends, I could give up the sports bike position and get something more upright too

No problem with heavy weightlifting after cleared.

MMA I would be careful. Even a year and half installation if I hit something with my dick incorrectly or rougher sex, ouch. No damage but ouch. Especially the head.

If its MMA, I would be careful to alert my training partner to kicks to the stomach and the danger that could cause
to the reservoir.
It's obviously buried deep in your abdomen but hard impact may cause a problem.

I would definently run that past my Doctor.
Best wishes.

I agree with what has just been said.
In my opinion, lifting weights will have no direct impact on the implant.
But what would worry me more is the occurrence of a hernia which, if it had to be operated on, would be complicated by the presence of the reservoir for example.
