Virtual Consultations

I have a virtual consultation with Dr Clavell in January. Has anyone ever had an initial consultation with a surgeon virtually? I’d imagine I’d have to pull out my dick on zoom which would be weird. Well at least awkward. I’m thinking about biting the bullet and just fly to Houston for a day and see him in person. What are your thoughts on virtual consultations? All opinions welcomed but I prefer to hear from those who’ve had an initial surgical consultation virtually. Thanks in advance for your input.

You won't really face much issue. Idea is to explain your case and take doctor's feedback. I regularly have done consultation with my doctor over the internet and it was fine.
I usually list down all my questions before my meeting so that I don't miss asking any.

I really doubt doc will have you pull your pants down on a virtual meet. More than likely he'll ask questions about your condition, why you are considering the implant. From there it will be planning. Main thing is ask any and all questions you have. There probably isn't a question he hasn't been asked before, so don't be shy. Make a list if you have to. Good Luck.

I did a virtual with Clavell and he did ask to see what it looked like down there. I made a joke about it being awkward and he laughed and said not awkward at all and made a joke about seeing penises. So I whipped it out. Wasn’t as awkward as you think. Clavell does a good job at making you feel at ease.

I'm in CA, Dr. Clavell is in TX.

I had a virtual consultation with Dr. Clavell over his video system. Yep, I was eventually standing in my office with my pants down in front of my computer.

Not at all a big deal. Dr. Clavell has a very easygoing manner and for some strange reason it didn't feel too weird to have a dude on my screen and my dick in the camera.

Still sorta funny to think about, but for heaven's sake, he might be the guy to filet your penis in the coming months, you'd better not be afraid to show him what he'll be working with. In my case he had a delay earlier in the day so he asked me if I minded if he ate his lunch while we chatted. I didn't mind at all, Dr. Clavell is super chill, he gave me all the time I needed and answered every question on my long list (most before I even asked them)

I assumed I'd be "on stage" that day, so make sure you're looking your best. ;)

Seems a little risky to me exposing your junk via video - what platform is Dr. Clavell using for these consults and how secure?

My question would be what is he really assessing with a "virtual penis exam?" - maybe superficial scarring?

I think i saw you post this same question on the facebook implant page. I answered you there. but agree with most guys above. It’s no big deal. You mentioned elsewhere traveling to Houston. It’s your money. Spend it and go if it makes you feel better. Or live with ED. Your choice.

If you're pretty set on getting the implant, I think over the phone consultation is fine. I had my first consultation with Dr Eid over the phone, hr mostly just verified that my ED had been going for a long period of time, that I had tried or at least was aware of the other potential treatment options, and that I was aware of the basic pros and cons of implant surgery. We checked off all those boxes over the phone, so the 2nd time I ever met with him was the day before surgery.

I did a phone consultation with Clavell, no big deal, i did have to show it, over the internet was less embarrassing for me than in person. I wish i had written down more questions for him, i should have written down anything that I wanted his opinion on from reading 4 years of posts here.

The reason I used "his video system" in my post was to make it clear it was not Zoom or Teams or anything commercially used by the public. It seemed to be a specific system that was designed for telemed conferencing, which I'm comfortable has all the protections in place for a system designed for use in that manner. Telemed is extremely common now and very economical, I was happy to use it. I would not have flown to Houston to have a 30 minute consultation with Dr. Clavell, that would have added thousands to the cost and further delays. Meeting with him online was exactly what I needed to confirm that he was the doc for me.

To your second sentence, this was not an exam. It's a consultation. You put "virtual penis exam" in quotes, as if that phrase had been used in this thread. It has not been, you assumed that. It's a consultation.
