Had a video consultation this past week with Dr. Hakky. Going in to the conversation I felt confident that I would likely be going with Clavell in Houston (I meet with him 1/12). But i was VERY IMPRESSED with Dr. Hakky. Now leaning towards Hakky after our visit. Several factors include he's in my state, as well as he offers a nerve block (like Clavell) and he does cosmetics if needed (fat pad revision, fillers). The only negative is that he asked if I would be okay getting an implant EVERY 10 YEARS! I thought these devices were lasting 15-20 years. Also, he said that he would have me cycling after a few DAYS not weeks as Ive read here on FT. He knows I read FT and told me to continue as well as use a VED. He even gave me his cell number if I had further questions. Already texted him twice.
Any thoughts on these issues? Likely getting implanted in early March 2024.

Re: Great Consultation.....
De Hakky is the best !! You can’t beat him as a doctor and friend. He is totally 110% for his patients. I’m vet biased but he has been a lifesaver for me !!! I drive 5 hours just for my visits. I probably pass several good doctors but the drive is for the best one.!!

Re: Great Consultation.....
Im very happy with Dr Hakky. He’s really concerned with the things men are concerned with. He speaks plain and will work with your idiosyncrasies.
I also Clavell who I liked also and he was candid about the 10 year LE. My FIL is. 15 years into his implant and there are guys who have lasted 20+ but also guys that didnt make it 2 years. I think they are setting reasonable expectations at 10 years.
If you have PD Dr Hakky is really good. He has helped me immensely and saved much of my size and gave me a great cock to work with.
He told my wife that do to the PD I would require “frequent and robust” sex to help correct what the surgery couldnt. Who doesnt love a dr giving orders for more sex! Lol
His staff is very good and will work the insurance angle for you.
I was activated for cycling at about 10 days. He wanted 4-5 days but I had a hematoma which inhibited finding the pump. I was activated for sex at 4 weeks, I am IP I think that may be a bit longer for PS.
Also he is very good about pain management.
Good luck, if I can be of help message me

Thanks for the reply BentBen. I see you have the titan. Im leaning towards the AMS to avoid dog ears. However I like the size of the titan pump...but dont care for the pump noise. Talk about those issues if you would please.

Re: Great Consultation.....
all things being equal, I'd go for the doc in my own state too.
I flew 2000 miles to Clavell, CA to TX. I tried to consult with the Dr. nearest me in CA, one mentioned here on FT periodically, a mere 1 hour drive from my home. His staff was so inept and the hoops to jump through so frustrating, I crossed him off my list the first day.
I had a great experience with Dr. Clavell and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone. Since you've consulted with both and find them comparable, I'd go with the one in my own state without hesitation. Dr. Hakky is clearly top tier and many on here can give you reliable, real world results.
I opted for the AMS, and I've posted my reasoning here on FT many times. Here's the cliff notes:
-more natural and comfortable flaccid, which is the state it will be in 99.8% of the rest of my life
-silent pump, no squeaks or honks
-girth is dictated by your tunica, not necessarily the implant. The difference in diameter is negligible.
-rare reports of auto-inflation, after nearly a year I've never experienced it
-almost zero dog ears, although someone here on FT reports they have them. I never have.
-by far the most implanted system worldwide, by a WIDE margin. Proven technology
-AMS has lower infection rate vs Coloplast out of the box, 1.3% vs 4.4%
-CX has similar rigidity to the Titan, just a touch less so. LGX is far less rigid, I did not consider LGX (come to find out it's too rigid at max for my wife, so we use it at about 80%. More rigidity would have been useless to us)
-CX has the lowest dissatisfaction rate vs. Titan. 2.4% vs 7.7%
-CX dissatisfaction with deflation = 4%, Titan dissatisfaction with deflation = 24%
Over time, a very high number of recipients are extremely happy with the option they chose. I think it's extremely important that you choose a doctor that offers both options, they are different in many ways. The AMS products are more expensive than the Titan, I believe some doctors will offer the Titan to increase their bottom line, I believe it's PARAMOUNT that you have the option. From perusing Dr. Hakky's website, it looks as if he offers both, which is great.
Oh, and I have Dr. Clavell's cell number too, I think these excellent docs want you to feel connected and cared for.
Does Hakky use a catheter? Clavell didn't, and after reading so many reports here on FT I'm extremely happy he doesn't. I had no catheter, no drains and no bruising. Only took alternating Tylenol and Advil post op.
Pro tip= go into surgery with just a little pee in the tank, they won't let you leave the hospital until you pee, so I kept some in reserve as my get out jail free card. I damn near filled that bottle within 30 minutes of coming out of anesthesia and I was on my way back to the hotel. I read about guys waiting hours to pee....no thanks.

Thanks for the informative reply!
I've only met with Hakky. Meeting with Clavell 1/12. Hakky DOES use a catheter and drain. He says he doesn't trust the patient nor the bladder to fully function. He says the drain allow better protection from infection to get all the unneeded out away from the incision. Kinda made sense. I'm only a 4 hour drive from him. Clavel will have to say something to REALLY WOW ME for me to fly to and stay in Houston!

Re: Great Consultation.....
Again, my experience with Clavell was nearly no bruising at all, so a drain was not necessary. I think if you ask most men that had a catheter they'll say it was near the top of the list for the worst part of the surgical experience.
All of these high volume/highly successful docs are separated by a fraction of a degree. I wouldn't expect Dr. Clavell to say something that blows you away, nor would I suggest you hold him to that standard.
Sounds like you're doing your due diligence, which is what matters most. You'll choose the right surgeon for you, and in the end you'll be completely thrilled with your new abilities!

Re: Great Consultation.....
Dr Hakky does use a catheter but uses a numbing type lubricant and plenty of it. I had zero problems after all my surgeries with him. Some additional reading I’ve done states the catheter keeps the urethra pronounced so it helps the surgeon from causing any damage to it.

I must say, respectfully, I highly question the statistics you quote of the AMS to the Coloplast. One of which being the infection rate. I have read in a recent government study that both have similar infection rates. The AMS has two factory antibiotic coating applied and the Coloplast has a hydrophilic coating which in documented practice has shown nearly equal infection stats.
I believe your satisfaction and dissatisfaction rates are also inaccurate.
Please reference the source where you have determined these comparisons.
